Session Description:
Comics are a uniquely powerful storytelling medium—where perspective is expressed not only through words, but through art, pacing, and visual emphasis. This session centers BIPOC comic creators and explores how lived experience reshapes narrative in transformative ways. Like Tina Turner taking Creedence Clearwater Revival’s already-great “Proud Mary” and turning it into something electrifying and iconic, BIPOC creators bring history, culture, and personal truth that change the rhythm, tone, and impact of this format.
Speakers:
Bill Campbell, Rosarium Publishing; John Jennings, John Jennings Studio; Scholastic Author; and moderator Christina Taylor, Consulting Librarian
