Session Description:

Presenters will focus on selecting graphic novels and manga for the library. Beginning with a very basic discussion of the benefits of reading graphic novels, the session would largely focus on selection and selection tools—aiming to help the librarian whose reading passions lay elsewhere effectively incorporate graphic novels into a collection without having to become a comic or manga fan. This program will equip sequential art skeptics with criteria for assessment and valid resources to aid in making sound collection development decisions when navigating this unfamiliar and possibly uninviting terrain.
