Christian is a researcher with interdisciplinary background, combining protein design, engineering and nanotechnology with microbiology and immunology to develop novel vaccines, therapeutics and antimicrobials, and investigating virulence or pathogenesis, and immune responses to respiratory bacterial and viral infections. Thus , his field of research and journey have transitioned from chemical and bioengineering to technical spectrum of microbiology, immunology and vaccinology.
The brutal toll of the COVID-19 pandemic underscores the need for thorough scientific or research dedications and approaches to pre-empt and counteract future pandemics. We have no precise knowledge about what viral pathogen will cause the next pandemic. However, we do know our immune system must respond and be bolstered with effective vaccines and therapeutics to protect lives against emerging viruses.
For this reason, I have made a decision to dedicate my entire science and career to propel the advancement of novel universal vaccines and therapeutics to help the world overcome future pandemics when they arise.
My goal is to focus on immunological approaches to engineer safe universal vaccines and broadly protective antibodies from bench to bedside/clinics.
I take inspiration from my mentor, role models and scientists below:
