Celebrating Chris Budd: A leader in mathematical innovation turns 60

On the 4th of March 2020 we come together at the University of Bath and celebrate the 60th birthday of our colleague, friend and collaborator Chris Budd. The aim of this workshop is to bring together collaborators, former PhD students and PostDocs of Chris to celebrate him and his achievements in mathematical innovation over his long and fruitful academic career.

Chris’s career was driven by interdisciplinary research and to honour his achievements in this regard the invited speakers also reflect this. Similarly, the audience of this workshop will be from various academic backgrounds ranging from mathematics to engineering, physics, biology, pharmacology to name a few. We expect that this workshop will highlight an outstanding career such as Chris’s, its genuine interdisciplinary approach to applied mathematics and as such will serve as an exemplar for how innovation and impact in mathematics can be achieved. It will create new and strengthen existing collaborations between mathematicians and its beneficiaries.
