Another non-Hot Box Detector model to come about in the early-mid 1990s was the Southern Technologies Corporation (STC) Sentry System. While the Sentry System itself was Hot Box Detector capable, Conrail did not utilize it in this role. Instead, they used it almost exclusively as a High Car Detector (with a few used as Dragging Equipment Detectors), and while not as prolific as the Devtronics SCAT units in this role, they were nevertheless present throughout the Conrail system.
