The story went so: the person to which this desk belongs to has worked to exhaustion, pushing themselves until all they could do was leave the desk as is and go to bed where they prompty fell asleep. The goal was to create the desk, as it was left, in the style and occupation of that person. My person was - Devilish Mortician
2-3 1k or lower unwraps / textures for the whole desk and all the objects
first time working in substance painter
First came the research - what did morticians do, what were their tools, how could a mortician work from home and how would I show that they are devilish? This part took a long while as I went through ideas until settling on one storyline - the mortician takes corpses of people no one will miss and uses them not only for his own gain and experiments, but to do rituals with too.
Once the idea was settled came the realization - searching for references, blocking out and modelling the desk and the objects for it. Unwrapping was a bit tricky as I had to think about how to cluster the objects most effectively for texturing. Once that was done I worked on textures, learning substance painter along the way. At that time I still made quite a lot of mistakes that with more practice I started noticing, even while still working on the project.
Eventually I was satisfied with my textures and thus only the last challange was left - composition and lighting. To be honest, it took a bit longer than expected to get it to be the way I wanted, but in the end I got the effect I desired and rendered.
