ChoreUp is a household chore management application designed to help families assign chores, track completions, and motivate members through a points-based system. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account and use ChoreUp, we collect the following information:

•       Email address — used for account creation and authentication

•       Password — stored securely using Firebase Authentication (we never see your plain-text password)

•       Profile information — your name, selected avatar emoji, and avatar color

•       Household information — household name and invite codes you create or use

•       Chore data — chore titles, descriptions, assigned members, frequencies, and completion records

•       Photo uploads — optional photos uploaded as proof of chore completion (Premium feature)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the application, we may automatically collect:

•       Device token — Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used to send push notifications to your device

•       Usage data — information about how you interact with the app, such as features used and actions taken

•       Device information — device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

ChoreUp does not collect:

•       Precise location data

•       Financial information (payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play and RevenueCat)

•       Contacts or address book data

•       Biometric data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

•       Create and manage your ChoreUp account

•       Enable household creation, joining, and management

•       Assign and track chores across household members

•       Send push notifications about chore assignments, reminders, and household updates

•       Display leaderboard standings and points within your household

•       Process and verify Premium subscription status through RevenueCat

•       Improve and optimize the application

•       Respond to your support requests

•       Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Within Your Household

Information you add to ChoreUp — including your name, avatar, assigned chores, and points — is visible to all members of your household. This is a core feature of the application.

3.2 Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate ChoreUp:

3.3 Legal Requirements

3.4 No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure, which includes industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using ChoreUp, you consent to the transfer of your information to these servers.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Chore completion records and points history may be retained in aggregated, anonymized form for analytics purposes after account deletion.

6. Children's Privacy

ChoreUp is designed for household use and may be used by children under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without verifiable parental consent.

Children's accounts within ChoreUp are created and managed by adult household members. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children's use of the application and for the information provided about their children.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately so we can delete such information.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Correction

You can access and update your profile information at any time through the Settings section of the application.

7.2 Push Notifications

You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device's notification settings. Note that opting out may affect your ability to receive chore reminders and household updates.

7.3 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days.

7.4 Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)

If you are a Canadian resident, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to access your personal information, request corrections, and withdraw consent for certain uses of your data. 7.5 GDPR Rights (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your data. You also have the right to object to and restrict certain processing of your data. To exercise these rights, please contact us.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

ChoreUp is a mobile application and does not use cookies. We do not use cross-site tracking technologies. Firebase may use device identifiers for analytics and performance monitoring purposes as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

9. Third-Party Links

Our application does not contain links to third-party websites or services other than those necessary for core functionality (Firebase, RevenueCat, Google Play). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party services we use.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, sending you a notification through the application.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of ChoreUp after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
