Chongyao Chen

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Mathematics at Stony Brook University, mentored by Radu Laza. My research interests lie in algebraic geometry and mathematical physics, with particular emphasis on Hodge theory, mirror symmetry, and motivic homotopy theory.

I received my PhD in Mathematics from Duke University in 2025, where I was advised by Colleen Robles and Kirsten Wickelgren. Before coming to Duke, I obtained a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Peking University, where I worked on the phenomenology of particle physics. Prior to that, I received a BSc in Mathematics and, concurrently, a BA in History from Peking University.

- Course description: This is an introductory course on algebraic D-modules. In this course, we will cover the basic properties of D-modules with emphasis on the regular holonomic D-modules. Then we will study different operations on D-modules and prove some important theorems including the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence and the Kashiwara equivalence. We will end with some applications of D-modules on toric geometry, i.e. the GKZ hypergeometric system.
