I am an full, tenured professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the School of Business, Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea. Before joining to HUBS, I received a Bachelor of Science in management science from KAIST, a Master of Science in statistics from Michigan State University, and a Ph.D. in management from RBS (Rutgers Business School), Rutgers University. Next, I was later appointed as an adjunct instructor at RBS, as a postdoctoral research fellow at NTU (Nanyang Technological University), and then as an assistant and associate professor of business administration at Yonsei University (Mirae Campus).
I have published more than 50 papers in international and domestic renowned journals such as Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Operations Research Letters, Annals of Operations Research, European Journal of Innovation Management, Science Technology and Society, Korean Management Science Review, Journal of the Korean Production and Operations Management Society, Journal of the Korean Society of Supply Chain Management and so on.
I am the vice president of KORMS (Korean Operations Research and Management Science Society) and KSPM (Korean Society of Project Management) and the editor-in-chief of Korean Management Science Review at KORMS and auditor at KPA (Korea Productivity Association). I served as the chair of research ethics committee at KLS (Korean Logistics Society) as well as the chair of academic affairs committees both at KPA and KAABA (Korean Academic Association of Business Administration). I am also an editorial board member at KORMS, KOPOMS (Korean Production and Operations Management Society), KLS (Korean Logistics Society), and TKES (The Korean Entrepreneurship Society). I am the secretary of INFORMS (Institute For Operations Research and Management Science) Korean Chapter.
For international academic honors and awards, I received the best paper awards at the 2017-2025 annual conferences of SOI (Society of Open Innovation), the best presentation award at the 2023 ICLS (International Congress on Logistics and Supply Chain Management) international conference, and best reviewer awards in 2026 from Journal of Open Innovation and in both 2017 and 2018 from European Journal of Operational Research. In addition, I was a runner-up winner at the Elwood S. Buffa dissertation competition in the 2010 DSI (Decision Science Institute) annual conference and also a finalist for the 2010 Committee on Stochastic Programming student paper competition.
For domestic academic honors and awards, I was the winner at the Researcher of the Month (Feb. 2021, Category: Humanities, Social Science, Arts, and Sports) at Hanyang University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation. I was also a Runner-Up Winner at the IC-PBL (Industry-Coupled Problem-Based Learning) Best Class Award in 2023 from Global Innovation for IC-PBL and Front Runner Winner at the IC-PBL Innovative Teaching Award in 2022 from Hanyang University. I was also the winner at the best paper award at the 2023 spring, 2024 spring, and 2024 fall bi-annual conferences of KSPM (Korean Society of Project Management), the 2018 – 2019 best reviewer award for Journal of the Korean Operations Research and Management Science Society at KORMS, the best paper award at the 2019 fall bi-annual conference of KAABA and 2016 spring bi-annual conference of KLS and a runner-up winner of the best paper award at the 2016 spring bi-annual conference of KRABE (Korean Research Association for Business Education).
