Also considered are the effectiveness of tougher border controls and the effects of illegal immigration on national and international welfare.' (from SAGE RACE RELATIONS ABSTRACTS VOLUME 32 NUMBER 2 May 2007, Manchester, UK)  Illegal immigration is very interesting!

(from Palgrave Connect)

Human smuggling is the importation of people into a country via the deliberate evasion of immigration laws. This includes bringing illegal aliens into a country, as well as the unlawful transportation and harboring of aliens already in a country illegally. Some smuggling situations may involve murder, rape and assault (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (https://www.ice.gov/human-smuggling)).

Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons or modern-day slavery, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts.  The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological.  Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used (U.S. Department of Justice (https://www.justice.gov/humantrafficking/what-is-human-trafficking)).
