The hall is well used for local events including the Morris Men weekend held every July, the Pantomime and Summer Show run by the Chipperfield Theatre Group, the Hollyberry Fair at Christmas and three Horticultural shows each year. In addition, there are many fund raising events for various organisations including Quiz Nights, Race Nights, Variety Shows etc. Regular bookings include The Bowls Club, Pilates, Jazzercise, Extend Exercise, Choral Society rehearsals, Theatre Group and Parent and Toddlers.
The entrance lobby leads on to the hall, the storage room, the bar and a corridor leading to the ladies, gents and disabled toilets.
The large hall holds up to 200 people with a seating capacity for 120. It is 17.37m (57’) long and 7.36m (24’ 2”) wide. In addition the large fixed stage provides an area for shows, musical performances etc. The projector and drop down screen are available as is the in-built audio system. The curtains have black-out lining. There are large folding tables, small tables and chairs as well as small tables and chairs for children. There is flexible controlled lighting to suit all moods and there is an illuminated rotating mirror ball.
The Bar leads off the main hall with separate access from the lobby and an external double door for stocking the bar. It contains fridge and a sink unit.
The large kitchen has a 6 burner large cooker, large fridge freezer, microwave, warming cupboard, industrial dishwasher, a large food preparation area. It is well stocked with cutlery and crockery for over 100 people. It has ovenware and serving dishes. There is an urn as well as electric and gas kettles. In addition there is another section of the kitchen which has a large table and chairs that can be used for small meetings. This is a useful area if preparing food for large numbers. There is a separate toilet and sink corridor leading off the kitchen with access to the outside.
Tables: The hall has 14 large tables which are stored in the recess in the kitchen. It has 10 small square tables which are usually located in the hall. There are also some children’s low tables and chairs.
Chairs: There are approx 120 chairs. Half of these are kept around the hall and the rest are stored on the stage.
Outside: There is an external fire exit door from the main hall leading to a small grassed area. Parking for up to 4 cars is permitted outside the hall and a pathway leads to the hall for loading and unloading. However this access must otherwise be kept clear for the use of emergency vehicles. There is more parking just beyond this and a further car park on the opposite side of the road.
