Hey neighbors! We did have a previous concern with the Chime tones not updating as they should, which was later resolved, but has since re-opened for some neighbors still having this concern. If you are still experiencing this error, rest assured that I can get this information escalated and looked into further. Before having this looked into further, please try the follow to update your Chime tone:

Please ensure you have the most up-to-date app version, as well as OS version for the phone you are making the update from. Ensure you have no VPN turned on, and try to us only mobile data instead of wifi, or vice versa, if you find an error message when trying this the first time. Switching your connections may help avoid this error.

If you get an error message when updating your tone in the app, please force close your Ring app, wait a few seconds, and then open it again. Upon re-opening, navigate back to attempt to make this change. Before trying to make the change, see if the tone has already been updated to what you previously choose, and share your results here if this was the case.

For now, I have accepted this post as a solution. This is a helpful way for other neighbors that come into this thread to try these recommended troubleshooting steps. If these troubleshooting steps do not work, please share in depth information and examples as to what happens so we can pass it along to the appropriate teams. Thank you.

Hey @muttdoc. Thank you for posting your experience and what you have done in your reply here! After checking with my teams that previously reported on this concern, it looks like it has been re-opened to look into further. I will make sure to update my accepted solution to reflect this for other neighbors that may come into this thread. While our teams are looking into this further, they expect that we should have a resolution in the coming weeks. I will, of course, make sure to keep this thread updated once this has been officially and fully resolved! Rest assured, you should not need to contact our support team at this time.

However, after reading your reply, I went back in to audio settings with WiFi on. I had not adjusted volume this time but the scale bar still showed the level near the low end where I wanted it. This time around I got a fleeting notification near the bottom of my screen saying the volume had been updated. Weird. And I tested the chime and it is indeed a lower volume!

Ring installed today and when I try to update the ring the chimes led flashes green and blue for a couple of seconds and the phone shows Updating settings. After a while the phone shows an error (screenshot attached)

I spoke to customer support yesterday and went through the normal diagnostic procedures with the agent. The agent (who was helpful) said he would need to raise it with the next support level (engineering I beleive).

Hey @Mirek. When you reinstalled the Ring app, did you reboot your phone in between removing the app and reinstalling it? This can be an important extra step to take, as rebooting your phone in between the remove and re-add will clear the cache of data saved onto your phone, which may be causing it to still save the old tone. If you could, please try the removal of the app, reboot of your phone (turn it off/on) and then reinstall the app. After this, please try to save the tone and see if the Chime plays the new tone on motion alerts or dings (if you have a Doorbell).

I bought a Ring Doorbell 2 that came with a regular chime (not pro) in April of 2019 and as of last week I have not been able to change the ring or motion sounds. When I try Changing the sound It says Sorry Something went Wrong. I am not sure what is wrong with it. I have tried resetting it but that did not help; I even called Ring Customer Support and she could not figure it out. It does make a sound if the doorbell is rang or if motion is detected.

About the olny thing I have not yet tried is deleting my account, if I do that I may as well also try the competition to see how well they work, but I did like the security policy that Ring had in place (at least prior to Amazon Purchasing them)

On the plus side, it has been a little better connecting to the doorbell from all devices lately. Still not quick enough though as I often have people walking away, but sometimes I can get them to come back. Needs to be about 3-5 seconds faster. I get off that horse now.

Experienced the same exact issue on the original Chimes. Used Android app 3.22.2 as well as reverted back to 3.20.0 with no luck. I have two chimes and both exhibit this issue. Tried resetting the chime as well as removing / re-adding device.

I am having the same issue, bought a ring doorbell 3 and the Chime 2nd Generation.

Just installed everything and when trying to change the chime tone get the same message as shown above!!!

Maybe I should have gone for the Nest Door Cam

Pick your desired sound from the list, hit Save Changes, wait only about a second, and then force close the app. Might take a few attempts to get the force close timing right, but this worked for me twice in a row.

I have the same issue, exactly and no matter which of the above steps I try, I cannot change the ringtone on my brand new Chime. It is just so amazing. I wonder where I else I could post to get some attention to this, like Wirecutter. Or iFixit or Consumer Reports. Customers have gone for over a year without a fix? Really?

Hi there, @Majesty! This is the expected behavior when Changing a Chime tone or setting. The Chime device will save or update with these changes. Often times when a change is not saving or taking too long to change/ update, it can be due to connection. Please ensure the Chime is well within range of your router for a good signal. Check out our Community post for tips on optimizing wifi signal strength, or RSSI.

In addition to checking Chime connection, as suggested above, and moving your Chime closer to the router, please also ensure there is not a VPN enabled on your mobile device. If possible, try attempting this change on another mobile device to see if it works.

Here is our Help Center article on changing tones, which explains the process further. If this concern persists despite trying these steps, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. If you are outside of the US, please visit here to see how to contact support.

Hi I was having cactus same problem but if you go to ring app turn off the two alarm notifications then power down your phone then turn phone back on go to ring app and turn on the two alarm notifications turn your phone off then on again it fixes the problem. However I cannot get Christmas holiday rings or notifications to work!

Same issue. Tried uninstalling the App, turning off my phone, then re-installing. My rating as Ring as a company is in the gutter at the moment. Unable to fix a broken LED blub on my 150 Floodlight and now this simple bit of functionality not working! I will not be buying anymore Ring products.

If your Chime tone is not saving as intended, this is often a sign of communication interference. As a test, moving your Chime closer to your router and changing the tone there will factor out interferences with wifi. Check out our Community post about RSSI for tips on optimizing this signal strength. In addition, please also ensure there is not a VPN enabled on your mobile device when accessing the Ring app and if possible, try attempting this change on another mobile device to see if it works.

If I remember correctly, for Holloween they did custome auto responses but not the ringtones.

Any case, go to the eufy community and check with support@eufylife.com to see if they have any plans for Christmas.

I have raised this as a new query by emailing support. They do not have a solution in how to change the Christmas chime on the doorbell to match the Homebase unit. It is past Christmas!! Until they have another update it seems the chime on the doorbell cannot be changed back to default.

Agreed, that would be disappointing. I just did the reverse of setting the Christmas ringtones and it went back to the default doorbell tone. All you need to do is to press the doorbell 5 times with a short gap between each press

The Lorex Wi-Fi Chimebox is a device that wirelessly connects to a compatible Lorex video doorbell. When someone presses the doorbell, it triggers the Chimebox to sound an audible alert inside the house.

To ensure optimal performance, plug the Wi-Fi Chimebox into a power outlet with a strong Wi-Fi signal. Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide for your region to easily set it up.

When setting up the video doorbell in the Lorex app, select the Wi-Fi Chimebox as the chime option. Do not select "Mechanical" or "Electronic" to avoid issues with powering on the doorbell.

I found a notification ringtone that is the chime before a PA announcement so I thought you guys might like to try it. There is a free app for android (and probably iphone) called zedge. Just search for princess cruise alert....it sounds just like the Carnival chimes!

The only option Google Nest provides for changing the ringtone for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell is the option to select a holiday ringtone using the "Doorbell theme" option under "Device Options" in Settings, but Google removes this option from the Google Nest app and sets the ringtone back to "Ding Dong" when--in Google's estimation--the holiday is over. Judging from another post, they apparently removed it recently now that Google regards the Christmas season as over (even though winter, which was a selectable theme, is definitely NOT over). 152ee80cbc
