Plain English Summary: We collect only what's needed to run ChefAI. We don't sell your data. Your recipes and conversations are yours.

1. Who We Are

ChefAI is developed and operated by Ömer Tevfik ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the ChefAI mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information Apple provides.

Chat Messages: Your conversations with ChefAI are stored to provide chat history and personalized suggestions. Messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses.

Saved Recipes: Recipes you save, including ingredients and instructions, are stored in your account on Firebase Firestore.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics (via Firebase Analytics) including feature usage and app crashes to improve the app. This data cannot identify you personally.

Purchase Information: Subscription and purchase information is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and personalize the ChefAI experience
To generate AI responses via OpenAI's API
To save your recipes and preferences across devices
To send meal reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
To improve the app through anonymous analytics
To verify your subscription status

4. Third-Party Services

ChefAI uses the following third-party services:

OpenAI: Your chat messages are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Firebase (Google): Used for authentication, database storage, and analytics. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store: Handles all payments and subscriptions.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Firebase Firestore servers with industry-standard security. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account only — other users cannot access your recipes or conversations.

We use Firebase Security Rules to ensure only you can read and write your own data.

6. Notifications

ChefAI may send you meal reminder notifications if you enable them in Settings. You can turn these off at any time within the app (Settings → Notifications toggle) or in your device's system Settings.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is kept as long as you have an active account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data from our servers, including chat history, saved recipes, and account information.

8. Children's Privacy

ChefAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data (via in-app account deletion)
Object to or restrict processing of your data
Data portability

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date below and, where appropriate, through the app.
