Cabrini-Hunter Fellowships
for Social Work and Nursing Students
Fall 2025 Application
There are critical shortages in both Social Work and Nursing professions and they play a critical role securing the physical and mental health care for underserved communities in New York City. The goal of the Cabrini-Hunter Fellowships for Social Work and Nursing Students (CHF) is to train and prepare future healthcare professionals in interprofessional team-based practices. Through the generous funding from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, Hunter College will offer an Interprofessional Education curriculum and fellowships to 30 students from the Hunter College Schools of Social Work and Nursing. The Cabrini-Hunter Fellowship seeks to recruit 15 students at Silberman School of Social Work and 15 students at Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing for the Fall 2025 Semester. Cabrini-Hunter Fellows (scholarship recipients) will engage in seminars, practice labs, workshops, academic and student support services, events, and professional development opportunities.
Program Requirements
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must commit to the Fall 2025 Semester cohort.
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must use their awards during the Fall 2025 Semester (no award deferment).
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must be available to meet for in-person seminars. Travel to the Silberman School of Social Work is required.
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must report third-party support (i.e., employer assistance) and/or other aid (i.e., outside scholarships) awarded in the Fall 2025 Semester.
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must be fully matriculated at Hunter College.
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must participate in all program required activities, such as orientation, seminars, practice labs, workshops, conferences, meetings with professional development counselors, and professional development opportunities to receive Interprofessional Education (IPE) Certification and Fellowship/Scholarship Award (tuition assistance).
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must meet both academic and fellowship requirements to receive tuition assistance.
Eligibility Criteria
The Cabrini-Hunter Fellowships for Social Work and Nursing Students seeks to recruit 15 students at the Silberman School of Social Work and 15 students at the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing for the Fall 2025 Semester. Priority will be given to students that demonstrate financial need, are from underrepresented groups and demonstrate a commitment to working with under-resourced communities in New York City. All students are encouraged and welcomed to apply.
Academic Programs:
Priority will be given to students enrolled in the Silberman School of Social Work Masters of Social Work MSW/2 Yr., Advanced Standing, and One Year Residency (OYR) tracks. Students must be in good academic standing.
All full-time and part-time Social Work students are encouraged and welcomed to apply.
Priority will be given to students enrolled in the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MS) program who have completed N750 and/or planning to enroll or enrolled in N782. Students must be in good academic standing.
All full-time and part-time PMHNP students are encouraged and welcomed to apply.
Field and Clinical Practicum:
Priority will be given to students who are placed in underserved and/or under-resourced communities in New York City.
All students are encouraged and welcomed to apply.
Interview:
All finalists must be available for an interview.
Cabrini-Hunter Fellowship/Scholarship Award
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows will receive tuition and fees awards for Fall 2025 Semester.
The Cabrini-Hunter Fellowship/Scholarship award only covers the cost of in-state tuition and fees.
Financial award is based on the number of enrollment credits in the Fall 2025 semester.
To receive the Cabrini-Hunter Fellowship/Scholarship Award Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Cabrini-Hunter Fellows must report third-party support (i.e., employer assistance) and/or other aid (i.e., outside scholarships) awarded in the Fall 2025 Semester.
Failure to meet program requirements will directly impact the Cabrini-Hunter Fellowship/Scholarship award.

Interview with Search Committee (Applicants who become Finalists)
The search committee will interview finalists until the 30 fellowship positions are filled.
Special Note:
All applicants will be notified by email as to whether or not they have been awarded the Cabrini-Hunter Fellowships for Social Work and Nursing Students.
The decision of the Search Committee is final.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until final deadline: Friday, June 13, 2025, 11:59pm. (Applications received after this time, will not be considered).
