Chess Lock is designed to protect your privacy and operates primarily offline. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
We process data under the following legal bases:
Intruder Photos (Camera): Captured only if you enable the "Intruder Selfie" feature. Legal basis: Consent. These are stored locally; never uploaded. You can delete these at any time.
Usage Access (android.permission.PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Used to detect when a protected app is opened so Chess Lock can show the lock screen. Legal basis: Legitimate Interest (to provide the core security function) or Consent; granted via Android Settings (Usage Access).
Foreground Monitoring (android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE): The app uses a foreground service to reliably monitor app launches. Legal basis: Legitimate Interest (ensuring consistent protection). Users can stop the service in app settings.
Crash and Diagnostic Data: We use Sentry for crash reporting and performance monitoring. Sentry may receive technical data (device model, OS version, stack traces). No photos or raw personal identifiers are sent to Sentry. Legal basis: Legitimate Interest; you may opt out in Settings.
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used only for the "Intruder Selfie" feature. The App asks for explicit consent when you enable this feature.
Usage Access (android.permission.PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Must be enabled in Settings → Special app access → Usage access. This allows the App to monitor which apps are running to enforce your locks.
Foreground Service (android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE): Required to monitor launches reliably in the background. Users can stop the service in the App's settings or system settings.
How to Revoke: Permissions can be revoked at any time via the in-app settings or through the Android System Settings menu.
Local Storage: All sensitive data (passwords, security questions, intruder photos) is stored locally on your device.
Encryption: We use Flutter Secure Storage, which utilizes the platform's Android Keystore / iOS Keychain to manage encryption keys securely. Sensitive data is encrypted using AES-256.
Backups: Sensitive app data (passwords, intruder photos) is generally excluded from standard OS cloud backups where possible, or remained encrypted within the backup. We recommend users manage their own device backup security.
Retention: Intruder photos are kept until you delete them manually or clear the gallery. We do not automatically delete your security captures.
Sentry: Used only for crash reporting and performance monitoring. We have configured Sentry to exclude personally identifiable information (PII) and never send captured images. You can disable Sentry reporting in the App's Settings. Link to Sentry's Privacy Policy.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability and the right to object. Since all sensitive data is stored locally, you exercise these rights by deleting data or uninstalling the App. For assistance, contact
info@307technologies.co.za. We aim to respond to all requests within 30 days.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's internet and app usage. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided data to us, please contact
info@307technologies.co.za to request deletion. Users must be at least 16 years of age (or have parent/guardian consent where local law permits).
In the event of a data breach involving personal data stored on our servers (if any in the future) or a significant vulnerability, we will notify affected users and applicable authorities within 72 hours where required by law (e.g., GDPR).
Updates will be posted with a new effective date. We will notify users in-app for any material changes.
