# Privacy Policy — Chess Connect

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Chess Connect app ("the app",
"we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your choices. By using the app you
agree to this policy.
## Information we collect
**Information you provide**
- **Display name** — entered during onboarding. Shown to other players on the
leaderboard and in online games.
- **Email address** — entered during onboarding. Used to identify your profile.
It is **not** shown to other players.
**Information collected automatically**
- **Player ID** — a random identifier generated on your device to link your
profile and progress. It is not derived from any personal device identifier.
- **Gameplay data** — points, diamonds, level, title, and game state (such as
board positions and moves) needed to play online and to rank the leaderboard.
We do **not** collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or
camera data, and we do **not** use third-party advertising.
## How we use information
- To provide core features: online multiplayer matchmaking and real-time play.
- To maintain your profile and save your progress.
- To rank players on the global leaderboard (your display name and stats are
shown there).
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app.
## How information is stored and shared
- Data is stored using **Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore)**. Google processes
and stores this data on our behalf. See Google's Privacy Policy:

- Your **display name, level and points are visible to other players** on the
leaderboard and in games. Your **email is never shown** to other players.
- We do **not** sell your personal information.
- We may disclose information if required by law.
## Data retention and deletion
We keep your profile data while you use the app. You can request deletion of
your profile and associated data at any time by emailing
**bishalchettri408@gmail.com** with the display name and email used in the app.
We will delete your player record from our database.
## Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on Google's
infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take
reasonable measures to protect your information.
## Children's privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided
us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
## Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected
by updating the "Effective date" above.
