A low-and-slow aerial adventure exploring Italy’s ancient wonders, Renaissance marvels, and stunning countryside—all from the comfort of a nimble general aviation aircraft.
This tour is designed for small GA planes such as the C172, DA40, PA28, or similar. The route focuses on short scenic hops, circling Rome’s most historic districts and visiting iconic airfields around the region.
Roma Urbe (LIRU) to Latina Air Base (LIRL)
Depart from Roma Urbe, flying low along the Tiber River for incredible views of central Rome—Colosseum, Roman Forum, Altare della Patria, and the Vatican. Continue south toward the flat farmlands and coastline, arriving at Latina Air Base.
Latina (LIRL) to Pratica di Mare (LIRE)
Fly westward along the Tyrrhenian Sea, passing over Castel Romano and the ancient ruins of Lavinium. Pratica di Mare awaits—a historic military field with roots dating back to early Italian aviation.
Pratica di Mare (LIRE) to Aeroporto dell’Aquila (LIAQ)
Climb eastward over the Apennine foothills, passing Lake Albano (next to Castel Gandolfo) and Lake Nemi. Views of dormant volcano craters and protected nature reserves make this one of the most scenic legs.
L’Aquila (LIAQ) to Brindisi (LIBR)
Track southeast across rolling terrain and eventually meet the Adriatic Sea. Enjoy coastal views before landing in Brindisi, a historic port city once used by the Romans as a gateway to the East.
Brindisi (LIBR) to Roma Fiumicino (LIRF)
Finish the tour with a longer scenic flight back across central Italy. Fly over olive groves, medieval hill towns, and the Lazio plains before making a professional landing at Rome’s international airport.
