Welcome to Les Chercheurs de Smith

(translation: Smith's Seekers)

“Les chercheurs de Smith” translates to “Smith’s Seekers” in English. This has been chosen as our class name because we should always seek to improve ourselves as students and learners. This class name is directly tied to our class house system and you can see our class-wide crest above. In our classwide crest, we have an icon to represent each of our class houses.

We seek knowledge. We seek empathy. We seek vitality. We seek to protect.

Our Class Mission

In our classroom, our mission is to cultivate a community of learners dedicated to personal and academic growth. We strive to pursue wisdom, embrace empathy, live with vitality, and protect with courage. Our goal is to empower each student to become a lifelong seeker of knowledge, a compassionate friend, a vibrant individual, and a guardian of our collective well-being. Through collaboration, curiosity, and care, we aim to inspire and support each other in our journey of discovery and development.

Why the House System?

As students complete their elementary experience, they need to create a strong sense of self and learn how to form relationships with a diverse population. We will use a House System in our classroom to support students in learning how to disagree in an academic setting, work with others, and build an academic community.

Our House System is based on the RCA (Ron Clark Academy) House system. While our houses have different names and colors, the underlying tenants are similar.

Our House System will also support the CLES Way. The House System is designed to help students learn more about being Caring, Learning, Engaged, and Safe in the school, classroom, and world environment. You will see that each House has a CLES Connection that will help move forward our school mission.

With the collaboration of the POD, ALL CLES students and staff will become healthy & empowered learners, striving individually & collaboratively to become proficient readers, writers, mathematical thinkers, communicators, & environmental stewards.
