My primary research area is computational neuroscience, but I've dabbled with cardiac models, risk management, and ecology/epidemiology. Topics include:
Dynamics of variability of cortical neural network activity across repeated trials
Developing numerical methods to solve probability density equations
Mathematical analysis of coupled stochastic systems (differential equations)
Detailed biophysical cellular and network modeling
Neural coding of sensory and other signals
Considering a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics? VCU has a Ph.D. program in Systems Modeling and Analysis focused on rigorous applications. See sysm.vcu.edu for more information.
