My primary research area is computational neuroscience, but I've dabbled with cardiac models, quantitative risk management, and ecology/epidemiology. Topics include:
Dynamics of variability of cortical neural network activity over repeated trials
Developing numerical methods to solve probability density equations
Mathematical analysis of coupled stochastic differential equations
Biophysical cellular and (cell-)network modeling
Neural coding of sensory and other signals
Considering a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics? VCU has a Ph.D. program in Systems Modeling and Analysis focused on rigorous applications. See sysm.vcu.edu for more information.
