Dr. Anvarhussein Isab

Professor
Research Areas
Inorganic

The focus of Professor Isab's research is on the synthesis, reactions and structural properties of metal complexes as models as anti-cancer drugs. The emphasis is given on gold(I), gold(III) and platinum(II) complexes. Most of the work involved in vitro studies of these complexes. He also studied the interaction of heavy metal ions with red blood cells, serum albumin as well as with captopril (a high blood pressure drug) by NMR spectroscopy.

Isab is the author of more than 250 articles in professional and scholarly journals. Also 42 patents being issued by the US patent office.

Professor Isab trained 6 MS and 7 PhD students and 1 postdoctoral associate.

He did his PhD from University of London under the supervision of Prof. P. J. Sadler (1978). He joined KFUPM in Sept. 1981 as an Asst. Prof., promoted to Assoc Prof. in 1996 and then promoted to the rank of Prof. in 1997.

He is the board member of several journals including PLoS ONE.

He received the Best Research Award three times from KFUPM.
