Dr. Rinaldi research covers investigating the role of organic molecules and calcination protocols to maximize metal dispersion and metal-support interaction. His team utilizes standard characterization techniques such as physisorption, thermo-kinetic analysis, x-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy. Dr Rinaldi also develops oxidative-reductive heat-treatment protocols for catalyst regeneration mainly for catalyst re-dispersion by studying catalyst dynamics under realistic reaction conditions with "in situ" electron microscopy. Catalytic systems recently investigated by Dr. Rinaldi are hydrogen oxidation and dry reforming of methane with copper and nickel-based catalysts.
