On a rainy Wednesday afternoon I checked into The Rowland House. The Rowland House was named after former MacKenzie-Childs owner Pleasant Rowland who purchased MC in 2001. (You might recognized her name from the iconic American Girl Doll Company.) All the furnishing and artwork belonged to Pleasant and her husband. As soon as I walked into my room I felt right at home with this pink and orange color scheme. It was bright, cheerful and happily decorated with her Florida vacation home furniture and art. It was serendipitous that this would be my room having just hit publish of our home with an unconventional Fall color scheme just hours before.

Here is the famous MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check room at the Rowland House. This room was hand-painted and took an artist 17 days to complete! Can you imagine lining up all these rows of checks? I felt right at home wearing my vintage Courtly Check MacKenzie-Childs sweater.

On July 20, 2022, the Great Socialist Cat Memes Facebook page shared a meme that was titled, "Nobody Wants to Work Anymore." The meme was described as "a brief history of capitalists complaining that nobody wants to work for starvation wages."

The meme and thread supposedly showed 14 clippings from articles that were printed between the years of 1894 and 2022, all of which appeared to display people expressing the general opinion that "nobody wants to work anymore." Some of the articles showed the exact words from the top of the meme and thread, while others displayed a variation of the belief. The idea of the meme and thread was to show that, in each of the 14 years displayed, the person who either said or wrote the opinion appeared to believe it to be a novel thought.

As the phrase began to go viral, it became sort of a catchall term for everything and anything. Some began using it as an earnest way to convey their present emotional state, while others made jokes and memes.

Just one word of warning. Internet memes tend to be irreverent and fun. This means that many favorite memes have the potential to offend some people. Instagrammers often continue this irreverence when they name their Instagram meme accounts. If you are offended by swearing, you should probably avoid the next section of this post.
