Jared Ross, Director of Bands
Center Hill Band Director, Mr. Jared Ross is from Birmingham, AL. His family relocated to Memphis in 1989. He graduated from Kirby High School in Southeast Memphis in 1997. He has been married to Mrs. Ross since 2001. He received his bachelor degree in Music Education from the University of Memphis in 2005 where he performed in with the "Mighty Sound of the South" marching band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra studying wind conducting under Dr. Sydney McKay and Dr. Kraig Williams. He received his master's degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2007 where he was an instruction assistant, his focused study was motivation theory in music education and studied wind conducting and tuba under Sam MacMorran of the Knoxville Symphony. Mr. Ross began his teaching career in Alabama in 2007 where he taught for seven years. Mr. Ross came to Center Hill in 2014.
Mr. Ross is a member of the Mississippi Bandmasters Association. He is a member of the Memphis Wind Symphony. He is an Eagle Scout and an alumnus of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. When Mr. Ross isn't "band directing", he enjoys backpacking, hammocks, Ingress, trivia with friends, science fiction by Orson Scott Card, spending time with his family, and of course making music.
Jason Cole, Assistant Director/Percussion Coordinator
Jason Cole, a native of Mobile, AL, is a graduate of Jacksonville State University where he earned a degree in Instrumental music education. Studying percussion, Jason had the great pleasure of learning from Dr. Todd Mueller, Clint Gillespie, and Dr. Thomas McCutchen. While at JSU, Jason performed in virtually every performance ensemble offered including Chamber Winds, Hardcorps pep band, steel band, mallet ensemble, “Q” contemporary music ensemble, and the Marching Southerners.
While a member of the Southerners, Jason performed as a member of the quad line (09-10) and the Marimba line (11-13). Jason has been principle percussion of Chamber Winds and the front ensemble section leader of the Marching Southerners.
As an educator, Mr. Cole has worked with several fantastic high school, college, and independent percussion programs such as Albertville High School, Heritage High School, Rome High School, East Coweta High School, Ola High School, Carrollton High School, Jacksonville State University, Chattanooga Independent and several others.
Now a resident of Memphis, TN, Mr. Cole spends his spare time performing as a member of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies Drumline, "Grizzline."
Mr. Cole is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, Percussive Arts Society, Mississippi Band Masters Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Jim Jolley, Assistant Director/Middle School Band
Jim Jolley is the Center Hill Middle School Band Director and general wise man. His is originally from Jackson, TN. He is an honor graduate from Horn Lake High School and has earned an Associate of Arts from Northwest Community College, Bachelors of Music Education from Mississippi State University, as well as a Masters of Music Education from The University of Mississippi.
He has taught at Southaven High School, Manchester Academy in Yazoo City MS, Horn Lake High School, and Center Hill Middle.
Mr. Jolley is a former member of the Starkville and Columbus community Orchestras and Olive Branch Community Band. He is happily married for 25 years to Janet McLarty Jolley and has 2 boys Blake and Jonathan. Mr. Jolley is also a 3rd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, plays guitar and banjo, has been a finalist in the Mid South Fair youth talent contest, and has been in 3 movies and on television twice

Michael Caffee, Music Consultant/Woodwind Specialist/Jazz Band
Michael Caffee graduated high school in Burkburnett, TX after moving around for most of his life in a military family. After high school Michael enrolled in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis and studied Instrumental Music Education but completed a BS in Organizational Leadership from Union University in May of 2014. While at the University of Memphis Michael studied under Dr. Albert Nguyen, Dr. Nicholas Holland, and Mr. Allen Rippe.
During his time at the University of Memphis Michael performed in a variety of large and small ensembles on saxophone and clarinet. Michael was a saxophone section leader for the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band in 2009 and 2010. In 2011 Michael served as a Drum Major for the Mighty Sound of the South.
Michael has been working with the Center Hill High School Band Program in a variety of capacities since 2010 to include Music and Visual Consultant and the Director of the CHHS Jazz Band. Michael serves on staff at Great Commission Church in Olive Branch, MS and is married to CHHS English teacher & Color Guard Coordinator Melanie Caffee. Michael also works in business management in the Greater Memphis area and is a member of the Mississippi Bandmasters Association.
