Calling all community members! We are excited to announce the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office will be supporting the 2024 Law Enforcement Torch Run® through our “Freezing for a Reason Polar Plunge” to benefit Special Olympics North Carolina, and we want you all to join us in making a splash for a great cause! The event will be held at “Seaforth Recreation Area at Jordan Lake” on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. Let's come together, register, donate, and make a difference in the lives of exceptional athletes. Your participation and donations can create a lasting impact. CALEA Public Comment Portal
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office participates in the CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation process. As part of the process, we provide an opportunity for public feedback via the CALEA accreditation public comment portal. The purpose of the public comment portal is to enable CALEA to receive comments directly regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be made in the form of commendations or concerns by accessing here.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE: Although walk-ins are accepted, we encourage visitors requesting fingerprinting services (for employment purposes or NEW CCW permit applications) to schedule an appointment to reduce waiting times. Please call ahead to 919.542.2811 to schedule your visit.***

Important Notice Regarding Inmate Mail Processing
Effective APRIL 1, 2022, non-legal inmate mail must be sent to the mail processing center at the address below. The envelope must have a complete, legible return address (including the sender's first and last name, mailing address, state, and zip code) or the mail will not be scanned. Mail arriving with "postage due" will be refused and returned to sender, if possible.
