Chatalyst — Privacy Policy
Effective August 17, 2026
Chatalyst is a browser extension you use locally, in your own browser. The short version: we don't run a server that collects your data, we don't sell or share anything, and almost everything the extension touches — your templates, the phone numbers you select, the names it detects — stays on your device.
What Chatalyst reads on a page
When you right-click a selected phone number and choose a template, Chatalyst reads that selection and, if your template includes {name}, looks at nearby text on the same page to guess the contact's name (for example, a heading in your CRM). This happens entirely inside your browser, in the moment you trigger it — nothing about the page you're on, the number you selected, or the name it found is ever sent to us or stored on any server we operate.
What's stored, and where
Your templates, groups, default country, and license status are saved with chrome.storage.sync — Chrome's own built-in sync storage, tied to your Google account. That data lives in Google's infrastructure and syncs across your own signed-in devices; we never receive a copy of it.
What we do send over the network
Exactly one thing: when you activate a Pro license, the license key you enter is sent to Gumroad's license verification service to confirm it's valid. That request contains only the license key — never your templates, contact names, phone numbers, or anything else.
The optional desktop connector
Attaching files with a Pro template uses a small, separate program you install yourself outside the browser. It only runs when the extension asks it to copy one file to your operating system's clipboard, and it has no network access of its own — it never phones home.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or ad networks.
- No selling, renting, or sharing your data with third parties.
- No reading your WhatsApp messages, contacts, or chat history — Chatalyst only ever hands off a pre-filled link to WhatsApp Desktop; it doesn't connect to WhatsApp itself.
Permissions, plain-language
- contextMenus — Adds the "Send WhatsApp to…" right-click menu.
- storage — Saves your templates and settings via Chrome sync.
- scripting — Reads your selection and nearby text, only on the page and moment you act.
- activeTab — Limits that read access to the tab you're actively using.
- nativeMessaging — Talks to the optional desktop connector, if you install it.
- notifications — Shows small system notifications (e.g. "file ready to paste").
- host_permissions: api.gumroad.com — Lets license activation reach Gumroad's verification API.
