Effective date: August 27, 2026
ChartMark is a browser extension that lets users select messages from private ChatGPT conversations and download them as Markdown. This policy explains how ChartMark handles information.
ChartMark does not collect, sell, share, or transmit your personal data or conversation content to ChartMark, its developer, or any third-party analytics or advertising service. Conversation processing and Markdown generation happen locally in your browser.
When you deliberately open ChartMark on a private conversation at chatgpt.com, the extension accesses:
The current page URL, to identify the conversation requested by you.
Your current ChatGPT session response, to obtain a short-lived access token.
The title, message structure, selected user messages, selected assistant messages, and available media references for that conversation.
ChartMark uses this information only to show the selection drawer and generate the Markdown file you request.
The ChatGPT access token is used in memory to request the selected conversation from ChatGPT. ChartMark does not store the token in extension storage, browser storage, logs, exported files, or a remote server. The token reference is discarded after the request completes.
ChartMark does not ask for or handle your ChatGPT password.
ChartMark does not maintain a database or cloud account. Message selections and the loaded conversation exist only in the active tab's memory and are cleared when the drawer is closed, the conversation changes, the tab reloads, or the tab is closed.
The Markdown file is downloaded to the location managed by your browser. After download, you control that file and its retention.
ChartMark communicates only with chatgpt.com as needed to retrieve the private conversation that you requested. It does not send conversation content to a ChartMark server or another service.
Remote image or attachment links included in Markdown may point to infrastructure used by ChatGPT. Such links may require a ChatGPT login or expire. ChartMark does not download or re-host those files.
ChartMark contains no analytics SDK, advertising SDK, telemetry service, tracking pixel, or cross-site tracking feature.
ChartMark requests access to chatgpt.com so it can read a conversation only when the user opens the export drawer. It requests activeTab so a user click on the browser toolbar icon can open that drawer in the active ChatGPT tab.
ChartMark does not sell user data. ChartMark does not share user data with third parties. ChartMark does not use conversation data for advertising, profiling, model training, or purposes unrelated to the user-requested Markdown export.
ChartMark is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
ChartMark minimizes permissions, avoids remote code, does not persist authentication tokens, and does not provide a remote data service. No software can guarantee absolute security, but the extension is designed to keep conversation processing within the local browser.
If ChartMark's data practices change, this policy and the relevant web-store privacy disclosures will be updated before those changes are released. The effective date above identifies the current version.
