Cloudans are a fictional race of people in the EONS series. In the world of EONS, they serve as the inhabitants of Earth rather than humans. They are similar to humans in the sense of their behaviors and ideas, like similar cultures, practices, and ideals. They do the same things humans do in their daily lives; work, sleep, eat, etc. If you hear the term of "Cloudan," just think of them as the series' version of humans.
The term "Cloudan" derives from the distant past, before recorded time when the first populations of Cloudan inhabited Earth. It's believed that the ancestors of the Cloudan saw themselves similar, if not, exactly like the clouds in the sky, sharing the same snow white color that their skin had. Over time, the term "Cloudan" stuck through history to describe this race of people. Some people argue that the name shouldn't have stuck along for as long as it did, but others argue that the term itself perfectly encapsulates what the Cloudan race is like, in different shapes or forms, they are all the same. Cloudans.
The Cloudans have had a similar history to those of humans in the real world, however, they are also unique in the sense of when the Cloudans have interacted with an alien race at the time, the Umbra. The Cloudans connection to the Umbra has been said to have been the richest period in all of history, where they as a race managed to make contact with aliens, unfamiliar with their society of people that somehow managed to find peace with their kind. As time went on, it become common for a Cloudan to have an Umbrian companion. In the past, it was common for Cloudans and Umbra to commit to a spiritual practice called "BINDING."
Binding involves 1 Cloudan and 1 Umbra committing to a promise of being "forever unified as allies until death do them apart." The incantation essentially links the ESSENCES of both Cloudan and Umbra, allowing for each of them to have access to each others' strengths. Additionally, if either Cloudan or Umbra died, the other will die along with them. It has both Cloudan and Umbra to trust their lives to the other to gain access to greater power. For the Umbra, they can only live the lifetime remaining for the Cloudan since they have shorter life spans than the Umbra, but it's been believed that most if not all Umbra that bound to a Cloudan were satisfied and more than happy to stay with their partnering Cloudan until their final breath.
There have been occasions where certain Cloudans and Umbra were greedy and tried to engage in the Binding practice with more than the required participants for the practice. However, if Binding does not involve with the specific 1 Cloudan and 1 Umbra requirement, any and all participants who have failed to meet the requirements perish as their essences dissipate, causing their bodies to slowly kill itself. No amount of treatment may fix this outcome, it is terminal.
Cloudans have evolved over time, similar to humans in a way. However, where the Cloudans begin to differ is that they come in 2 general groups: those who are normal, and those who have inherited special powers. These two groups is what would lead to societies to adopt names for them. "Average & Special," "Normies & Unis," "Standards & Uncommons," these are examples of names various groups of people placed for these two distinct groups of Cloudans. But ever since the establishment of the CCS (Cloudan Categorical System), the new and official terms worldwide became "The Commons & The Gifted."
The CCS goes beyond the Commons and the Gifted, it also branched out to different variations of Cloudans. It's become more common for there to be Cloudans in either group to acquire special feats that wouldn't typically apply to either group, essentially garnering a new term for those types of Cloudan. The following categories will provide all the official brackets and their qualifications to how a Cloudan could be given their societal status.
[ Commons ]
The Commons are basically the "Non-Gifted," it registers a wide variety of Cloudans with different physical capabilities, feats, and potential. A Common Cloudan can be as weak as your average Joe, to a swordsman, a karate black belt, literally anyone that isn't a Gifted Cloudan. Some people gave the Cloudans with nothing physically impressive as the "Normies," though it's just an unofficial name. It's also considered offensive to some.
[ Bound ]
The Bound, though extremely rare nowadays, are the bracket of Cloudans that are bound to an Umbra. The Cloudans that are under the Bound bracket are typically Commons that have undergone the "Binding" practice.
[ Gifted ]
The Gifted are the more interesting group of people in the entire planet. Gifted Cloudans possess outlandish powers that seemingly have no explanation or cause that result in a Cloudan to acquire them. These powers can range from a standard assist in a daily domestic life like flying or understanding animals, to more destructive and combat driven ones like gravity manipulation or creating nuclear fissures to cause explosions. These powers are generally called "Gifts," the ability of a given Cloudan. That's also the reason why this bracket it called "the Gifted."
[ Advanced ]
The Advanced are Cloudans who can transform their bodies to a special physical state. This bracket applies to any of the listed categories of Cloudan above, the Common, Bound, and Gifted. When describing a Cloudan in either 3 categories who can transform, you add the term "Advanced" before the name of the prior terms, such as: "Advanced Common," "Advanced Bound," and "Advanced Gifted." --- However, due to the natural ability to transform for the Bound, the Advanced term only applies if the Cloudan themselves can transform without the Umbra involved to trigger it directly.
[ Hybrids ]
The Hybrids are a very special kind of Cloudan group. This bracket may apply to any and all of the existing brackets named before this one as there are two types of Hybrid: "Common Hybrids" and "Gifted Hybrids."
Common Hybrids are Common Cloudans who can transform, meaning they are qualified as an "Advanced Common," but due to them also being Bound to an Umbra, that makes them a "Common Hybrid."
While for Gifted Hybrids, they are a Gifted Cloudan who can also transform, meaning they are an "Advanced Gifted." However, like the Common Hybrids, they are also Bound to an Umbra, making them a "Gifted Hybrid."
