ChargeTap (“the App”) is provided by Apps by MrD (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed, processed, stored, and shared when you use ChargeTap.
ChargeTap helps users find and open installed electric vehicle charging applications, scan QR codes, open verified Google Play application links, and open other HTTPS web links after user confirmation.
ChargeTap is an independent utility. It is not an electric vehicle charging operator, payment provider, or charging service provider. The App does not start or manage charging sessions and does not process charging payments.
ChargeTap may access the names, package identifiers, icons, and launch availability of applications installed on your device. This access is used only to provide application search, favorites, recently opened applications, and launcher widget features.
Installed application information, search queries, favorites, and recently used application identifiers are processed locally on your device. We do not upload this information to our own servers, sell it, or use it to create advertising profiles.
Favorites, recent application history, language preferences, onboarding status, and Premium entitlement status may be stored locally on your device. You can remove locally stored information by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.
ChargeTap requests camera access only when you use the QR scanner.
Camera images are processed on your device to detect QR codes. ChargeTap does not save, upload, or share camera images.
When a QR code contains a Google Play or HTTPS web address, the App may access the internet to check the destination. Verified Google Play application links may be opened after your confirmation. Other HTTPS links may be sent to your device’s external browser only after you choose to continue.
ChargeTap does not guarantee the content, availability, security, or privacy practices of third-party websites or applications opened through a QR code.
The free version of ChargeTap displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
Google and its partners may collect or process information such as:
Device and advertising identifiers
IP address
General device information
Advertising interactions
Diagnostic and performance information
Approximate location inferred from an IP address
Google processes this information according to its own policies. For more information, please review the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Advertising data is not sent to or stored on an Apps by MrD server.
ChargeTap may offer a one-time Premium purchase through Google Play Billing.
Purchases and payment information are processed by Google Play. We do not directly receive or store your full payment card or banking information. The App may receive purchase status and product entitlement information from Google Play to activate or restore Premium features.
Google Play processes purchase information according to the Google Privacy Policy.
ChargeTap uses internet access for features such as:
Loading advertisements
Communicating with Google Play Billing
Checking QR link destinations
Opening links that you approve
Opening support, privacy, or other external pages
The App uses or may interact with the following third-party services:
Google Play
Google Play Billing
Google AdMob and Google Mobile Ads
Your device’s web browser
Third-party websites and applications selected by you
These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party services.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not operate a ChargeTap account system or a server that receives your installed application inventory, favorites, recent application history, QR camera images, or search queries.
Information may be processed by Google and other third-party services when required to provide advertising, purchases, external links, or other features you choose to use.
Information stored by ChargeTap itself remains locally on your device until you remove it, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App.
Information processed independently by Google or another third-party service is subject to that service’s retention and deletion policies.
You may contact us if you have a privacy-related question. Because ChargeTap does not operate user accounts or store user profiles on its own servers, we may not possess personal data that can be associated with you.
We use reasonable measures intended to limit unnecessary access to information and keep local processing separate from third-party services. However, no application, network transmission, website, or third-party service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should review the displayed confirmation before opening an external link and should not continue if a QR code or destination appears suspicious.
ChargeTap is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own servers.
Advertising and Google Play services may be governed by additional Google policies, account settings, age requirements, and regional rules.
You can:
Deny or revoke camera permission through Android settings
Cancel before opening an external QR destination
Remove local App information by clearing storage or uninstalling ChargeTap
Manage advertising and privacy settings through your device and Google account
Choose whether to purchase Premium through Google Play
Some features may not work when the required permission or service is unavailable.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, applicable requirements, or third-party services change. The latest version will be published on this page, and the “Last updated” date will be revised.
