Effective Date: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Photo Stories Team (“Photo Stories,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Photo Stories mobile application, related websites, features, and services (collectively, the “Service”).
It also explains the important distinction between local photo processing and server-based AI processing.
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Photo Stories includes different types of creative processing:
Collage editing: Photo arrangement, resizing, rotation, flipping, spacing, corner adjustment, and composition controls are generally performed within the app.
Subject extraction: Automatic foreground or subject extraction is designed to operate on your device.
AI style transformation: When you choose a cartoon or oil-painting style, the selected photo must be uploaded to our servers or an authorized AI-processing provider so the requested result can be generated and returned.
We do not automatically upload your entire photo library. Only photos that you actively select for a server-based feature are transmitted for that purpose.
We process photos and images you choose to import into the Service.
For local collage and on-device subject-extraction features, images are intended to remain on your device unless you separately select a feature that requires server processing or choose to share them through another service.
For AI cartoon and oil-painting transformations, the selected source image is uploaded for processing. The generated result may also be temporarily stored while it is delivered to your device.
We do not claim ownership of your source photos or finished creations.
We may collect limited technical information such as:
Device type and model;
Operating-system and app version;
Language, region, and time zone;
App installation identifiers or similar technical identifiers;
Network and connectivity information;
Feature usage, interaction events, and general performance data;
Crash reports, diagnostic logs, and error information.
This information helps us maintain compatibility, understand feature performance, diagnose problems, secure the Service, and improve reliability.
If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, device details, and support history.
Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or photos that are not necessary to resolve your request.
If paid features are offered through Apple’s App Store, Apple processes your payment details. We do not receive your full payment-card information.
We may receive limited transaction information such as product identifier, subscription or purchase status, transaction identifier, country or region, and validation information needed to provide access or prevent fraud.
If you visit our policy or support webpages, the website host may automatically process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, request time, and security logs. The host’s own privacy practices may also apply.
We use information to:
Import, edit, arrange, and export photos;
Perform subject extraction and layered collage effects;
Process user-requested AI cartoon and oil-painting transformations;
Deliver generated results to the user;
Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
Diagnose crashes, errors, failed processing, and performance problems;
Respond to support requests and user communications;
Prevent fraud, misuse, malicious activity, and security incidents;
Enforce our Terms of Use;
Comply with legal obligations and valid legal requests;
Develop and evaluate features using aggregated or de-identified information where reasonably possible.
We do not use your uploaded photos for behavioral advertising.
We do not sell your photos or personal information for money. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those concepts are defined under certain US state privacy laws.
We do not use user photos to train general-purpose AI models unless we first provide clear notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law. Our standard purpose for AI uploads is to generate the transformation that the user requested.
The app may request permission to access:
Selected photos;
Your photo library, where you choose broader access; or
The ability to save completed images to your library.
You control these permissions through iOS settings. You can grant limited access to selected photos where supported.
Denying access may prevent certain features from functioning, but it does not give us access to photos you have not authorized.
When you intentionally select an AI style feature:
You select a source photo;
The selected photo is encrypted in transit and uploaded;
The photo is processed by an AI model hosted by us or an authorized provider;
A stylized result is generated;
The result is returned to the app;
The source and result are deleted or de-identified when no longer reasonably necessary for processing, delivery, security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.
AI processing may involve face, person, object, or scene characteristics visible in the image. We use this visual information to generate the requested artistic transformation, not to identify the person, authenticate identity, or build a biometric profile.
Do not upload an image if you do not have the necessary permission to process it.
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract: To provide the editing or AI transformation you request;
Consent: For photo access or other processing where consent is required;
Legitimate interests: To secure, maintain, diagnose, and improve the Service, balanced against user rights;
Legal obligation: To comply with applicable laws and valid legal requests;
Protection of vital interests: In limited circumstances involving safety or security.
You may withdraw consent through device settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully completed.
We may share limited information with:
We may use providers for:
Cloud hosting and storage;
AI model inference and image processing;
Content delivery and networking;
Crash reporting and diagnostics;
Analytics and service performance;
Security, fraud prevention, and abuse detection;
Customer support.
These providers may process information only to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by law. We require appropriate contractual and security protections.
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:
Comply with law, regulation, court order, or valid legal process;
Protect users, Photo Stories Team, or the public;
Investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or Terms violations;
Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
If the Service is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
When you export or share a creation, the content may be sent to a destination you select. The receiving service’s privacy policy will apply.
We do not publicly post your photos on your behalf.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
In general:
Photos processed only on the device remain under your control on that device;
AI source images and generated results are retained temporarily for processing and delivery and may be kept for a limited additional period for failed-job recovery, security, and troubleshooting;
Diagnostic and usage information may be retained for a reasonable period to analyze reliability and protect the Service;
Support communications may be retained while needed to resolve requests and maintain appropriate records;
Transaction records may be retained as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Data may remain briefly in encrypted backups before routine deletion. We may retain information longer if required by law, necessary to resolve a dispute, or needed to prevent abuse.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include encrypted transmission, access controls, limited provider access, monitoring, and retention controls.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and users should avoid uploading content that they are not comfortable transmitting for AI processing.
Our servers and service providers may operate in countries other than your own. As a result, information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection laws.
Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, or other lawful mechanisms.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Request access to personal information;
Request correction of inaccurate information;
Request deletion;
Request restriction of processing;
Object to certain processing;
Withdraw consent;
Request data portability;
Appeal the denial of a privacy request;
Lodge a complaint with a data-protection or consumer-protection authority.
To exercise a right, email engineer@aptivcore.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify the request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Because many photos are processed without an account, we may be unable to identify or retrieve a particular image after temporary processing ends. If we cannot reasonably associate data with you, we will explain that when responding.
Residents of certain US states may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling.
Photo Stories Team does not sell personal information for monetary consideration and does not use uploaded photos for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You may submit a request by emailing engineer@aptivcore.com. Where applicable, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf, subject to identity and authorization verification.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 or the applicable minimum digital-consent age in their jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age without legally valid parental authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us, and we will take reasonable steps to investigate and delete it where required.
Parents and guardians should supervise minors’ use of photo and AI features, particularly when images contain identifiable people.
AI features use automated processing to create stylized images. This processing does not make legal or similarly significant decisions about users.
Generated results are creative outputs and should be reviewed before use or publication.
The Service may contain links to external websites or allow sharing through third-party apps. We do not control the privacy practices of destinations you choose to use.
Review the privacy policy of any third party before sending content to it.
The Service may be usable without creating an account. You can delete locally stored app data by removing projects within the app, clearing available local content, or deleting the app, subject to how iOS manages local and backed-up information.
For server-processed information that can reasonably be linked to your request, contact us at engineer@aptivcore.com. Temporary AI-processing files may already have been automatically deleted by the time we receive the request.
We may update this Privacy Policy when features, technologies, laws, or data practices change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice where required.
We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Material changes affecting photo or AI processing will be communicated as required by applicable law.
