Chapter is a personal book-reading tracker. Contact: chyaqoob199@gmail.com.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
Your chosen name, books, progress, notes, quotes, ratings, reading sessions, goals and preferences are stored locally. The Android app uses a SQLite database. If you used an older version, it imports the earlier local library and retains that original copy for recovery. Chapter has no account system and does not send this library to a Chapter server.
ONLINE BOOK SEARCH AND COVERS
When you search the catalog, your search terms are sent over HTTPS to Open Library (Internet Archive). Loading a book cover sends a request to covers.openlibrary.org. Those services receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and requested URL and handle it under their own policies. Manual book entry and reading tracking do not require these requests. Internet Archive terms of use: https://archive.org/about/terms.php.
ANALYTICS, ADS AND PERMISSIONS
This version includes no advertising SDK, analytics SDK or crash-reporting service. Android internet permission is used for catalog search and covers. No camera, location, contacts or broad storage access is requested.
BACKUPS AND RETENTION
Backups are created manually when you export your library. Copying a backup places its complete plain-text contents on the system clipboard; save and handle it carefully. Importing a backup retains one previous library as a recovery copy. Archived books and their notes and sessions remain on your device. Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled in the app configuration.
DELETION AND CONTROL
You can edit your records, delete notes, and archive or restore books in the app. To permanently delete all locally stored Chapter data, including recovery and legacy copies, clear Chapter's storage in Android Settings or uninstall the app. Separately delete any backup files or clipboard copies you saved yourself. Uninstalling is not a backup method.
SECURITY
Data is kept within the application's private device storage and relies on your device's access controls. Exported backups are not encrypted. Network requests use HTTPS. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
SUPPORT
If you email support, we receive the email address and information you choose to include and use it to respond. Do not send passwords or sensitive reading notes. Contact chyaqoob199@gmail.com for privacy questions or requests concerning support correspondence.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This notice will be updated when Chapter's data practices change. The effective date above identifies this version.
