Fun Facts about Mrs. Eakin:

  • Is married with five children(one biological and four step-children)

  • Favorite sport is tennis, but love to watch college and LA basketball, football and baseball.

  • Hobbies include: cooking healthy meals, hiking, bicycling, hot yoga, traveling, gardening, and skiing.

  • Loves live theater: concerts, plays, operas and musicals

  • Favorite foods: sushi, seafood, all vegetables and Napoli style pizza

  • Favorite snack: Boom chick a pop popcorn

  • I'm a dog-lover and recently lost our 13 year old chihuahua/dachshund mix named Pip

Grading Policy

  • Grades are updated on Aeries a minimum of once a week.

  • Progress reports are emailed out to parent's after each Chapter test.

  • Grades are weighted:

Common Core Math 6 & Math 8: Homework is 35% and Assessments is 65%

Common Core Advanced Math 6: Homework is 30% and Assessments is 70%

Testing and Retesting Policy

  • Students may use their notes on online tests.

  • Go Guardian will be used to monitor their screens during testing.

  • Students who score under an 80% will have the opportunity to retake their tests the following Friday after school through Google Meets. Highest score they can get on a retest is 80%.

Common Core Math 6: Ratios- understand ratios and use ratio reasoning; Fraction and Decimal operations: Write, Interpret and use Expressions, Equations and Inequalities; Area, Surface Area and Volume; Summarize Distribution and Understand Variability

Common Core Advanced 6: Everything in the Common Core Math 6 as well as: Analyze Proportional relationships; Perform Real Number Operations; Radical and Integer Exponents; Perform rational operations; Generate equivalent expressions, Linear Equations and Inequalities: Angles, Surface Area, and Volume; Probability of Events; Analyze and compare populations

Common Core Math 8: Approximate Real Numbers, Real Number Operations, Radicals and Integer Exponents, Proportional Relationships; System of Linear Equations; Define, Evaluate, and Compare Functions; Congruence and Similarity; Pythagorean Theorem, Volume

Online Classes

  • zoom meeting codes will be posted on Google Classroom the day of the meeting.

  • Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class time.

  • Block schedules can be found on the school website or my teacher website or by clicking Here.

  • Classes will be locked after 10 minutes, once I begin to share my screen I am no longer able to see the waiting room to let students in. Please login early.

  • Please follow zoom meeting etiquette: be properly dressed(no pjs), not in bed, sitting at a desk or table and be aware of anything inappropriate in your background.

Online Classroom Rules:

  • RESPECT Yourself- be positive, no put downs.

  • RESPECT Others- be polite, offer to help others.

  • RESPECT Our time- be on time, stay on task.

  • On Wednesdays, assigned 5 topic goals on Aleks due the following Wednesday.

  • Make up Topic Goals can be completed in the next week by doing 5 extra and letting me know by messaging me through Google Classroom.

Big Ideas www.bigideas.com

  • Homework is assigned on Big Ideas each block day and due on the following block day. Work must be uploaded to Google Classroom for credit and assignment must be completed in Big ideas with a 70% or better.

  • If you score under 70%, message me and I will un-submit it for you to make corrections and resubmit. Hint-there is a check answer button use it to make sure you are doing it correctly.

Practice Tests and Tests www.aleks.com

  • All Practice tests are open for a full week before the test. Students are able to practice as many times as they would like prior to taking the actual test. Format is exactly the same on the practice test and test.

  • Remember to review missed problems and complete the quick retake until you get at least an 80%.
