Champaign-Urbana, IL SAA*

A local SAA* group for sexual addiction support

Who we are

Our group is composed of and exists in support of those who are questioning or actively working on their sexual addiction recovery. In particular, we encourage and follow the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Sex Addicts Anonymous®.  In "support," a key word is "anonymous."  We expect and guarantee anonymity and provide a safe, supportive and non-judgmental place for men and women to talk.

Could you be addicted?

If you have come this far, you probably have some questions about the direction your life is taking.

We encourage you to take this quiz at the official SAA website. We have found that key components of addiction include the inability to stop, and a vicious cycle of returning to the addiction as a refuge from difficult times in our lives. If you find any of these issues, or your own answers to the aforementioned quiz, to be disturbing, we encourage you to talk to someone. Should you wish, you would find that we are a welcoming group of people who understand these feelings, and want you to feel better - about yourself, your relationships, and about sex. We, too, have felt "out of control" and have repeatedly broken promises to ourselves to stop our behavior. A critical first step is reaching out for help. We are here for one another, and for you.

Meeting schedule & contact info

We meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  (There is a related style meeting Saturdays at noon).

We don't publish the location of our meetings online. If you would like to contact us, or are considering coming to a meeting, please email us at champaign.saa@gmail.com.  Our group email is checked several times a week.

Or you may leave a message at 800-557-9052

Our principles

We are a "12-step" type group; people can, and do, consider twelve different steps as a process of recovery. Everyone moves through these steps at their own pace. While our steps are based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous®, we are not affiliated with AA in any way. Our first step is We admitted we were powerless over addictive sexual behavior - that our lives had become unmanageable. This has been true for each of us in our group: we understand.

While spirituality is a basis for ours and many other 12-step programs, a "higher power" can be God, but can also be the group itself. The point is to have others that support you as you make your way back to sexual and emotional health.
