Let me give you a little backstory. I have four children. My oldest three children were all teenagers when Dottie was born. The youngest of my three teenagers has always loved planning parties. When she was younger, she was constantly dreaming of her next birthday party theme. So, when her little sister was born, she immediately started planning the gender reveal, the baby shower, and you guessed it...Dottie's berry first birthday. I thought it was adorable, so I ran with it. Now, I am so excited to share with you how we pulled it off!
Of course, the first detail to any party is determining how many guests you will have, picking a venue based on that information, and sending out the invitations. This is the invitation I designed for this party. You can order this invitation from my Zazzle store by clicking the link above. But, keep reading because I still have plenty of freebies for you to come!
For Dottie's smash cake, I made a giant strawberry shaped cake. If you want to see how I made that cake, watch the tutorial on one of my social media pages by clicking the logos below. For the guests, I kept it simple and made cupcakes. I ordered the cupcake stand from Walmart. It worked out perfectly, because it had a small pole that came up out of the top of the cupcake stand. I used that pole to secure the large round topper with tape. If you would rather make a cake and use this as a cake topper, you could easily make that adjustment. I also made cupcake toppers that matched the theme, and guess what. You can get the cupcake and cake topper template FREE!!! Click the link below to download, instructions are in the PDF.
If you are the type of mom that doesn't have time for printing, cutting, and pasting, don't worry! I've got you covered too. You can save time and order premade cupcake toppers from my Zazzle store by clicking here.
I made the bunting banner decoration for Dottie's highchair to match her party theme. Originally, I punched holes in the top corners of each triangle and threaded curling ribbon through each piece. But, when I was securing this banner to the high chair, I realized the ribbon really wasn't necessary. I taped each triangle to the high chair, so I could have omitted the ribbon. The choice to use ribbon is really up to you. This is another free PDF that you can use for your event! Click the PDF below to print.
The next printable is for a couple additional decorative elements. The strawberry bunting banner helped pull the theme together. It gave a berry sweet touch to the dessert table. You can see it strung around the table in the photo below. It's a simple touch, but I think it added just the pop this table needed. You can print as many of the strawberries as you would like to make your banner long or short.
The backdrop decoration requires a bit more assembly. I decorate cakes occasionally, so I usually have a few round cardboards for cakes on hand. I took a 12 inch round cake board and painted it pink. Then, I printed the remaining pieces. I cut them out and glued them down, arranged in a way that I liked. You could really do this any way you like. I glued a ribbon to the back side of the circle and I used that piece to hang the decoration on my backdrop cloth with a safety pin.
I thought it would be cute to have a time capsule. I had our guests fill out a page and place it in the ceramic strawberry. I ordered the strawberry from Amazon. I'll add the link to that here for anyone that may be interested. (Unsponsored)
I designed and printed my own sign, but after getting so many positive comments, I've made this product available in my Zazzle store. You can purchase the sign by clicking here!
I ordered these adorable party favor boxes from Amazon also (unsponsored). I've also added a tutorial video to my social media videos to show how easy it was to put this together. The boxes are sold at this link.
I designed the gift tags, but you can order gift tags from my Zazzle store by clicking here.
I hope you enjoy these berry sweet freebies and products as much as I did for my baby's berry first birthday! Please like, share, and follow me on social media in return.
