Companionship with Intelligent Home Appliance Robots

Join a research study about intelligent home appliance robots!

  • Do you own and use multiple (at least 2) home appliance robots (i.e., robot vacuum cleaner, lawn mower robot, smart dishwasher, smart washing machine, robot mopper, etc.)?

  • Do you have stories to tell about your intelligent home appliances?

  • We are here to listen to your stories for research!

  • Got 1 hour during August 2022?

  • Get rewarded (worth 10€ of Zalando/ Amazon vouchers) for sharing your story!

Introduction

Hello, I am Eshtiak Ahmed, a doctoral researcher at the Gamification Group at Tampere University.

Currently, I am conducting a study to understand the relationship between humans and their intelligent home appliance robots. We use these intelligent appliances very frequently at home and thus might make us think differently about them by evoking different emotions! So, it will be interesting to know how they are perceived!

We are looking forward to listening to user stories about interactions and encounters with intelligent home appliance robots.

For how long?
--> Join a call for 1 hour with a researcher!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the project about?

We are looking forward to listening to user stories about interactions and encounters with intelligent home appliance robots. We use these intelligent appliances very frequently at home and thus might make us think differently about them by evoking different emotions! In this project, we want to understand how users relate to their intelligent home appliances.

Can I take part?

Sure! Just make sure you...

--> own and use multiple (at least 2) home appliance robots (i.e., robot vacuum cleaner, lawn mower robot, smart dishwasher, smart washing machine, robot mopper, etc.)!
--> can join a 1-hour call at your convenient time, during August 2022!

Is it safe?

Of course! You will be sitting in your home and telling stories about your home appliances! Cannot get safer than that!

What do I get in return?

--> You are supporting science!

--> You get a 10€ gift voucher!

What data will be collected? Will my data be safe?

--> We will only collect your name and email address for communication purposes.

--> We will be recording your call and it will be transcribed and analyzed later.

--> Everything is kept on a secured cloud storage provided by Tampere University, so don't worry!

Are there any risks for taking part?

--> The setting of the research might lead to unpleasant experiences (e.g., telling an awkward or unpleasant story about your robot)

--> Since the video call will be recorded, the resulting data might get accessed and/or stolen by malicious third parties that are beyond our control (examples: computers get stolen, the university server gets hacked). Tampere University has firm security and privacy policies in place to minimise this risk.

I think I'm eligible but, do not have a story to tell...

Don't worry. We are not going to judge your storytelling ability! We will ask you questions and answering them is more than enough!

I do not think I am eligible...

Well, thanks for your interest anyway! And if you can, please share this call with your peers who might be eligible, that would be a great help!
