These are issues that I often encounter with people who buy new vehicles. The answer is, it depends on your expectations. If you want your paint to be perfect, as shiny as possible and protected once - then my answer to both questions is yes. However, for some, perfection is not expected and just a clean car is enough. I would say, worry less about paint improvement but seriously consider ceramic coating.
A ceramic coating will give you better protection than any sealant or wax while increasing shine and keeping your car clean. Ceramic coatings (or nano coatings) work better for some reasons. The sealant and wax sit on top of the paint as a sacrificial layer that breaks very quickly, is not chemically resistant and does not give the paint any additional strength.
Nano ceramic paint protection is different, as they are nanoparticles of quartz (most) or ceramic (some). Through the use of carrier fluids, (liquids that work to 'carry' nano-sized particles into the pores of the paint), these nanoparticles work in clear coats and cross-link pores with the paint Are capable. Thus, infecting quartz or ceramic paint increases the versatility of paint (surface tension), and increases resistance to chemical etching.
These are the symptoms of what you want with any protection on your paint, the best part is the last 1 - 7 years depending on the coating you choose. So in a nutshell, your new car is extremely beneficial for ceramic coating, protection of your paint, shine and longevity.
However, we need to be realistic about what our expectations are and how we take care of our vehicle to decide if you should coat your new car.
Coatings are not rock hard surfaces that prevent scratches, nor are they an impenetrable barrier on your paint, and they won't magically keep your car completely clean at all times.
They require you to take proper care of your vehicle, many of which do not have time. Some like to drive their car through the car wash and know about their day. If this is you, I would say don't invest in one coating, spend your money on another part of the car that you can enjoy more.
If you are the kind of person who will wash and keep regularly with the maintenance of your vehicle's appearance, plan to 'baby' their new car and want it to look good; Coatings will make it very easy for you. Proper hand washing your coated car will reward you with a car that always looks extremely bright and clean with a deep colour.
If this is the desire with your new car - coatings are an excellent choice for you.
Why should I portray a new vehicle correctly? Well, dealerships are not in the business of paint protection. Dealerships want to move the vehicle through this process quickly, so the process of washing and caring on new paint is brutal.
Recently, we worked with a customer through these two, who bought a new Mercedes-Benz.
This customer wanted to keep his new truck in the right shape as it was sitting outside, so we initially talked about clear bras and ceramic coatings. However, budgets often take us on a specific path and a clear bra will have to wait. After a discussion, we opted for a paint correction and 1-year coating, Diamond Plate Ceramic Paint Coating, to protect the vehicle until next year when we would apply the clear bra (after removing the coating).
If you have purchased a new car and are considering how you want to protect it with ceramic paint coating or if you want to get it done, let us know. We can talk through all the options to see what is best for you.
