In October 2010, NI released the latest maintenance update for Multisim and Ultiboard, version 11.0.1. This update includes several new features and enhancements to improve productivity during circuit simulation, design and prototyping. Some of the improvements are:
New functionality for virtual connectors for the creation of cleaner schematics. Virtual connectors allow users to connect wires across different pages of a schematic without using physical connectors or buses. This reduces clutter and improves readability of complex circuits.
Better design synchronization during forward and backward annotation. Forward annotation transfers changes made in Multisim to Ultiboard, while backward annotation transfers changes made in Ultiboard to Multisim. The new update improves the accuracy and speed of this process, as well as the user interface.
Other performance and usability improvements to both Multisim and Ultiboard. These include faster loading and saving of files, improved stability and error handling, enhanced component placement and routing tools, and more.
Expanded library of components and models from Analog Devices. The new update adds over 1000 new components from Analog Devices, including amplifiers, converters, switches, references, and more. These components are fully integrated with Multisim's simulation engine and Ultiboard's layout features.
1500+ new land patterns in NI Ultiboard for faster design. Land patterns are predefined shapes of pads and holes on a PCB that match the physical dimensions of a component. The new update adds more than 1500 new land patterns for various types of components, such as surface mount devices, through-hole devices, connectors, etc.
The update is available for free for customers who have an active Standard Service Program (SSP) contract with NI. Customers can install the update via NI Update Service or download it manually from the NI website. Customers who do not have an active SSP contract can purchase the latest version of the NI Circuit Design Suite from the NI website.
