"Celebration" is a 1980 song by American band Kool & the Gang. Released as the first single from their twelfth album, Celebrate! (1980), it was the band's first and only single to reach No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In 2021, the Library of Congress selected "Celebration" for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally historically or aesthetically significant".[4] The song is prominently featured in the 2023 Hallmark Movies feature film Rescuing Christmas

The initial idea came from the Quran. I was reading the passage, where God was creating Adam, and the angels were celebrating and singing praises. That inspired me to write the basic chords, the line, 'Everyone around the world, come on, celebration.'[5]

By late 1980, the song had also reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Dance and R&B charts. The song was featured heavily on the radio throughout the year. It has since been frequently used in weddings and parties,[9] and is a popular anthem for sporting events, including serving as the theme song for the St. Louis Cardinals after winning the 1982 World Series. In 1981, it was commonly played by radio stations in honor of the release of US hostages from captivity in Iran.[10] It was also an international hit, reaching No. 7 in the United Kingdom on November 29, 1980, spending 13 weeks in the chart.

"Celebration" was covered in 1987 and released as a single by New Zealand-Australian band Dragon. It was released as the lead single from the band's ninth studio album, Bondi Road (1989). The song peaked at number 11 on the Australian Kent Music Report.

"Celebration" was covered by Australian singer and songwriter Kylie Minogue, who originally recorded it for her fourth studio album, Let's Get to It, but it was not included on the album's release. It later appeared on her 1992 Greatest Hits album and was released as its second single on 16 November 1992. It peaked at no. 20 on the UK Singles Chart and at no. 21 in Australia.

"Celebration" has been cited many times as one of Minogue's favorite songs, and it was included on her greatest hits albums Ultimate Kylie, The Best of Kylie Minogue, and Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection. The techno-rave mix of the track is featured on the Kylie's Non-Stop History 50+1 album. It was also Minogue's last single with PWL and Stock Aitken Waterman. The music video was filmed in Rio de Janeiro.[citation needed]

Raise a parting glass to 2023 and shed a tear if you need to. This traditional Irish song about saying goodbye to family and friends used to be the more well-known New Year's song before "Auld Lang Syne" overtook it in popularity. It's beautiful but a bit somber, so save it for the end of the night as things are winding down.

Lummi tribal members, elders, and youth at the memorial Sunday shared stories, sang songs, and danced in front of a story pole honoring Tokitae, carved by Jewell James and the House of Tears carvers. Flowers, pictures, and handwritten notes were laid by the story pole.

A recent conversation on The Mane Land PawedCast got me thinking about what songs could be used as either introduction music, chants, or goal celebrations for various Orlando City players. This is the type of stuff that my brain inevitably gravitates to time and time again.

A virtual celebration featuring the Rutgers University Kirkpatrick Choir and the Rutgers University Glee Club. By combining footage of students sent in from across the country with imagery of the Kirkpatrick Chapel, the audience will be brought intimately into a space that would usually hold four sold-out crowds. Award-winning visual artist Camilla Tassi and Rutgers University graduate student Stephanie Tubiolo have created a beautiful compilation of individual concert videos alongside the process of decorating the chapel, evocations of the traditional processions, and footage of the chapel itself.

The performance will be held Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at the Tobye Studio and Lobby of The Naples Players. Ol! will celebrate soaring Spanish opera that will harken back the sounds and songs of the old country, highlighting Puerto Rican Tenor Ray Gonzalez, with Robin Frank accompanying on piano. Gonzalez has performed in leading operatic roles, oratorio and Zarzuela in Spain and throughout Florida and the United States, and was recently featured as a soloist with the Puerto Rican Symphony Orchestra and the Fundacin de Zarzuela y Opereta. Stu Shelton Jazz Band will follow, playing smooth, Latino-infused jazz.

Professor Isabelle Cata performed the song La Mer (The Sea) by Charles Trenet and the poem La Vie antrieure (My Former Life) by Charles Baudelaire at this year's International Water Poetry and Song Celebration.

Mitchell redefined the role of women musicians. She oversaw all aspects of her albums, including songwriting, arrangements, performance, production and artwork. Her sound crosses musical genres from folk to jazz, classical and rock, and she continues to inspire her fellow artists.

The 150th anniversary of the Song Festival tradition brings back the opportunity for the massed choir to perform a separate a cappella concert at the Silver Grove stage, Meaparks. The foundational concept of this concert, titled Trums. Dziesmas ce (The Field. The Road of Song), is folk song arrangements and original pieces inspired by folk songs.

Continuation

Ā Continuation is a joy and an obligation, as the nation searches for its path in a complicated world. Having maintained the Song and Dance Festival together, we transition to the cycle of awaiting the next Festival, recharged and inspired by the wonders of the Festival. When we return home, we are given a parting gift: good advice on how to bring song and dance into our lives. We congratulate those who will continue what we are doing in 5 or 100 years!

Part of grieving is often remembering the unique qualities of our loved one and speaking of our pain with others who understand. Sharing funeral songs at a celebration of life service is just what we need to help our hearts heal.

This is the song to remember a loved one who was always there for their friends, no matter what. It helps us remember to call on the special people in our lives and know that no matter what happens, we always hold a piece of their loving spirit with us as long as we live.

Funeral goers are especially in need of remembering the good times with others. Celebration of Life songs can bring a loving and hopeful perspective to an otherwise dreary event. Choosing a happy funeral song to mix in with the more heartfelt songs can make any traditional funeral service feel more uplifting.

We believe that creating the perfect tribute for a loved one is essential to honoring their memory. And we are proud to offer our creative expertise in helping you create the perfect celebration of life service.

As Cassetty recalled the nine-year history of Song Suffragettes and the successes of an all-female singer-songwriter collective, he noted two recent developments: the Monday night shows at The Listening Room Cafe and the launch of Song Suffragettes London, a monthly satellite show at The Camden Club in the UK.

The Song Festival has grown steadily since 1869, when the first festival was held in Tartu under the leadership of Johann Voldemar Jannsen, and has kept pace with the times. Only male choirs and wind orchestras with a total of a thousand performers participated in the first song festival. Over time, mixed, children's, women's, and boys' choirs, hobby symphonies, and toddler choirs were added. The party moved to Tallinn, where the first dance party took place in 1934. Since 1947, song and dance festivals have mostly been held together.

The song and dance festival in 2019 had 44 times more participants than the first song festival in Tartu, and the audience's interest in the song and dance festival was so great that tickets ran out both at the dance festival and for the first time in history at the song festival, gathering 100,000 people. At the same time, such a huge interest in the song festival shows that the tradition on the UNESCO World Heritage List is indeed alive and important regardless of age or social status.

After the program has been put together by artistic directors, registration for the festival for choirs, orchestras, and dance groups will be announced. This usually takes place 1.5 to 2 years before the start of the next festival. It is also possible for foreign ensembles to participate in the song festival - for this, they have to register their ensemble for the party in time and then acquire a repertoire, which is mostly in Estonian.

The audience can start preparing for the party six months before the party when the tickets will go on sale. The dance festival will feature three identical dance performances at Tallinn's Kalev Central Stadium, which will last about two hours. Each show can accommodate 10,000 spectators. The song festival will take place on the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, which will accommodate approximately 70,000 spectators at a time.

Both song and dance parties take place outdoors. This means being prepared for both rain and sun. Also, a song and dance party always brings with it big traffic restrictions, which is why a lot of time and patience should be saved when coming to the party. Those who are unable to attend can also take part in the song and dance festival via a live broadcast of the Estonian National Broadcasting, which is very popular in Estonia and can be watched online from all over the world.

The song and dance festival is aptly called the reunion of the family. Song and dance festivals have been constantly evolving over time and have always taken after the performers. A number of traditions have emerged that have become a part of this party. A torch is lit in Tartu, the birthplace of the festival. Like an Olympic fire, the torch travels through the whole of Estonia to Tallinn, where thousands of folk dancers first wait for that fire for a dance performance at Kalev Stadium. An integral part of the dance festival is the authentic Estonian folk costumes that make the dance stadium shine beautifully. 2351a5e196
