An important component of the Mexican community of soft condensed matter science developed through the last four decades in a close and productive association and collaboration with renowned research groups of the German soft condensed matter community. In the process, key institutions, such as the University of Konstanz, the University of Düsseldorf, the Forschungszentrum Jülich, and the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt in Köln, were instrumental in fostering this mutually enriching cooperation. It is now opportune to recapitulate the achievements of these four decades and to stimulate its generational renewal.
This is precisely the purpose of the present series of seminars, colloquia, and workshops, organized by the branches of the Laboratorio Nacional de Ingeniería de la Materia Fuera de Equilibrio (LANIMFE) located at the Instituto de Física of Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP), at the División de Ciencias e Ingenierías of Universidad de Guanajuato (UGto), and at the Facultad de Ciencias Físicomatemáticas of Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP).
