Head of the Department, Dr. Rena N. Shukla
The Civil Engineering Programme at Government Engineering College (GEC), Bharuch, admits 60 students annually and is supported by 13 qualified faculty members, including five Ph.D. holders, with several others pursuing doctoral research.
The department offers modern infrastructure, featuring a Center of Excellence developed in collaboration with UltraTech Cement and well-equipped laboratories that provide practical learning opportunities.
The curriculum follows the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework aligned with NBA standards, ensuring strong fundamentals across major civil engineering disciplines while incorporating emerging areas of study.
Students gain valuable experiential learning through projects, internships, industry interaction, and expert lectures, fostering technical competence, professional ethics, and problem-solving skills.
Through quality education, practical training, and continuous improvement, the department is committed to developing innovative, competent, and socially responsible civil engineers.
Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
◼︎ PEO1 - Achieve expertise in planning, analysis and design of civil engineering structures with available resources and latest technologies.
◼︎ PEO2 - Cultivate skills for research and continues learning to achieve efficient, cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions of infrastructure developments.
◼︎ PEO3 - Acquire professional skills, ability & ethical values to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
Graduates will be able to:
PSO 1: Plan, analyse and design civil engineering structures using relevant codes, software, techniques and materials.
PSO 2: Perform relevant tests and surveys, and interpret results to provide an economical and sustainable solution to civil engineering problems of industries and society.
PSO 3: Construct, operate and maintain civil engineering structures as per the requirement and specifications with stipulated quality control.
