Internships

What is the Internship Program?

Students ages 13-17 can participate in our design and technical theater based internship programs! Interns at YPTP participate in group lessons with theatre professionals while pursuing their specific interests in greater detail by serving as designers and technicians on our productions.

Internships are available as part of our summer camps and are also offered as companion courses with our school year productions.

Interns can take on the role of Stage Manager, Acting Coach, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Props Designer, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Publicity Manager, Dramaturg, Backstage Manager, Light Board Op, Sound Board Op, and more.

Interns with high levels of experience and a demonstrated talent for character analysis and blocking may be offered the role of Assistant Director on a production.

For more information, including pricing, please see the listings for Summer Camps and Classes.

Interns train with staff members to prepare to call cues and run the light and sound boards during a performance.

Interns work with staff to place flats before a dress rehearsal.

An intern works with our Production Manager to spike the set.

A costume design intern discusses a costume with the director while the acting coach intern prepares her notes for dress rehearsal.
