Saint Monica's unwavering devotion to her son, Augustine, is a testament to the power of persistent prayer. For years, she endured his wayward lifestyle, her heart heavy with concern for his spiritual well-being. She followed him across continents, never ceasing her fervent prayers and tears, pleading with God for his conversion. Monica's faith was unshakeable; she trusted that God would answer her prayers, even when Augustine strayed further from the path she envisioned for him. Her tireless intercession, marked by both maternal love and deep spiritual conviction, ultimately bore fruit, as Augustine experienced a profound conversion and became one of the most influential figures in Christian theology. Saint Monica's story remains a powerful example of the enduring strength of a mother's love and the transformative power of persistent prayer.
Through persistent prayer, we ask those who join this committee to attend a weekday Mass and offer it up for our priests and for vocations in the parish.

O Jesus, eternal Priest,
Keep your priests within the shelter of your
Most Sacred Heart,
Where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands,
Which daily touch Your Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips,
Daily purpled with Your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,
Sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Your Holy Love surround them and shield them
From the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit
May the souls to whom they minister be
Their joy and consolation here and in
Heaven, their beautiful and
Everlast crown.
Amen
(St Therese of Lisieux)
“O God, grant that one of my sons becomes a priest!
I promise to live as a good Christian woman and will
Lead my children to all that is good, wherewith I hope to
Receive the grace to be able to give to you, O God, a Holy priest.”
Jesus, I pray to you for your faithful and fervent priests;
For the unfaithful and tepid;
For those laboring at home or abroad in distant
Mission fields;
For tempted priests;
For the lonely and desolate;
For young priests; for the aged, sick and dying;
For the souls of your priests in purgatory.
But above all, I commend to You the priests
Dearest to me;
The priest who Baptized me;
Those who absolved me from my sins;
At whose Masses I assisted and who gave
Me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
Who taught and instructed me or helped me and
Encouraged me;
All the priests I am indebted in any other way
Particularly (NAME).
Jesus, Keep them all close to Your Heart
And bless them abundantly in
Time and eternity.
Amen.
