Band Course Information

• Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble classes meet daily. 

  • • All incoming Freshman band members should enroll in Concert Band

    • All Sophomore, Junior, and Senior band members should enroll in Symphonic Band

    • You music be enrolled in either Concert or Symphonic Band in order to take Jazz Ensemble or be in the Marching and Pep Bands

• Students earn one academic elective credit for successful completion of the course each year

• After school rehearsals are scheduled one afternoon each week, all year. See below:

  • Marching Band:

    • Tuesdays & Thursdays Through September, Just Thursdays in October to the end of the football season

    • 3:30pm-5:30pm until end of marching band season

  • Combined Symphonic & Concert Band Classes: 

    • Tuesdays

    • 3:00pm – 5:00pm starting the first Tuesday in November through the rest of the school year

  • Jazz Ensemble:

    • As required, prior to festival or concert performances

    • Notice will be provided

• The rehearsal schedule above may be modified (with notice) to accommodate the school calendar, holidays, other band activities/performances, etc. Please subscribe to the band calendar and follow our Facebook page for important updates.

Important Performance Information

• The Marching Band performs for all home football games and a limited number of community and school-related events.

• Both Symphonic & Concert Bands perform concerts in November, December, March, and May, and perform for evaluation at KMEA Performance Assessment events (March and May).

• The Jazz Ensemble performs concerts in November and May, and possibly the KMEA State Jazz Performance Assessment in April.

• Pep Band performs at 10 home basketball games and any tournament play.

Course Grade Information

• All scheduled rehearsals and performances are graded, required activities. Performances are in the mastery category, rehearsals are in the progression category.
