Arts Convening group comprises of leaders of arts education from schools, school districts and community partners within Contra Costa County. We meet five times yearly to learn together and collaborate on arts education.

High School Notes: A Capella Virtual Concert - Viewable on-Demand
Enjoy a cappella music at the first-ever High School Notes, presented by Diablo Regional Arts Association (DRAA) with Kaiser Permanente. This digital concert emceed and directed by Deke Sharon, producer of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” and arranger/director/producer of Universal’s three “Pitch Perfect” movies, will feature 8 of our high schools in our county and be professionally mixed and edited for at-home enjoyment. High School Notes will support local music educators and provide a healing musical outlet for students and viewers alike.

Quarantine Time Machine: TK-5 SEL curriculum
How can students be supported and learn wellness strategies in this extended time of shelter in place? Created by DLUX Puppets and commissioned by Kaiser Permanente and the Diablo Regional Arts Association, the Quarantine Time Machine curriculum is designed to help children reflect upon their time in quarantine, as the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine has had a tremendous impact on the mental health and wellness of our youth. This free curriculum includes engaging puppet show videos and lessons organized into four themes to help students identify feelings and learn strategies for wellness. Distance Learning in the Arts
The CCCOE Arts Resources for Distance Learning is a curated collection of tools and resources for arts teachers to use in a virtual learning environment. These include free lessons, videos and apps, organized by the five arts disciplines of dance, media arts, music, theater and visual arts. Have a resource to add to our list? Virtual Artist Cafe
The Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County is hosting a Virtual Artist Cafe featuring the work of high school artists. This exhibit, curated by high school student Carolyn Considine, showcases work from over 100 high school and college prep schools, spanning across 27 different high schools in Contra Costa County. Rise Up Curriculum
Rise Up! uses creative inquiry to explore Hamilton: An American Musical. Lessons help students to understand and critically examine Hamilton themes and artistry, and to express their own personal narrative through writing and performance. www.riseupcurriculum.org
