This academy was developed through a partnership between Clackamas Community College, the United States Forest Service and Timber Lake Job Corps. This is a one-week academy consisting of classroom and hands-on field application in two separate pathways. Attendees must excel academically, demonstrate exceptional teamwork, leadership skills and maintain professional behavior at all times. This program meets or exceeds all requirements set by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group; standard for fire fighter professional qualifications.
Upon completion of this program, you will receive up to 3 NWCG certifications, as well as the opportunity to experience a simulated fire camp environment. This opportunity to eat, sleep and train next to other fire fighters, helps build relationships, share tactical knowledge and ideas from around the state/country and expand your firefighting portfolio for future job applications or career advancement.
