We are always excited to welcome new CE instructors to teach CE courses at their high school! If you are interested in becoming a CE instructor, you will need to go through the CCA approval process. This includes approval by the CCA department chair for your discipline, the CCA human resources onboarding process, syllabi approval, and attending new instructor orientation. Be sure you have approval from your high school before reaching out to CCA!
General Information
Candidates for instructor positions (not CTE) at CCA must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Master’s degree in a field directly related to the area of instruction, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area of instruction; the Dean will determine if the master's degree is acceptable for the area of instruction;
2. Minimum of five years of professional work experience or another specific threshold as determined by the Dean based on the subject area and industry best practice;
· Developmental Education Exception Process: If the Math or English department chair wish to request an exception to these qualification requirements, such as a bachelor's degree to teach developmental education courses, they must submit a written justification and recommendation for the exception to their dean. The Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs must provide written approval of the recommendation before the candidate may be hired. A copy of the justification and recommendation as well as the Dean’s and Vice President’s approval must be saved in the instructor’s official personnel file in the Human Resources Office.
· Career and Technical Education (CTE) Exception Process: An instructor may be eligible to teach CTE courses should they hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a field directly related to the area of instruction, at least 18 credit hours in the discipline of instruction, and a current secondary CTE credential issued through the Colorado Department of Education.
