For the first time students from various areas have organized and met to create a space where the community of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering (CBI) can practice and develop their skills in the English language, applying it in a scientific context. It is an event where the vast majority of the public, exhibitors, and participants in general, are our colleagues and therefore, we believe that this will be an excellent opportunity for them to gain the confidence to develop in this language.
This meeting can serve many students who are preparing to participate in an international conference, where the language is often English or those who are writing articles for publishing in international journals. The activities will take place during the week of September 24 to 28 at the facilities of the Autonomous Metropolitan University campus Iztapalapa (UAM-I). In those days there will be a good variety of activities, such as short talks where the same students who are making their professional career or graduate studies, will talk about the topics that interest them most, they can present advances of their research projects or published science in general.
Another content we offer will be a series of plenary lectures where the general public will have the opportunity to listen and ask questions of our guest speakers. The topics will be varied and of interest to all.
The students will also have the chance to win a prize in the poster or essay contests. On Wednesday, September 26 during the afternoon, the accepted posters will be presented. During this session, you can come to read the papers, ask questions and talk with the authors who will be there.
The written essay contest is a mode that seeks to encourage writing in English, for students to practice writing about a topic they love. We will compile all the works, essays, posters and short talks and publish them on this page to create the memories of the event.
There will also be workshops where interested people can register and have the opportunity to learn to solve problems using Python, create several types of texts using LaTeX, among other things that we will soon be announcing.
As we advance in the organization and reception of works, many of these activities will be specified, so we recommend that you stay informed, visit our page regularly (also on Facebook) and subscribe to our news bulletins and notices. You can use the contact information to express your doubts and comments. Behind this, there is a large group of people working for you, approach them for consultation, they are your colleagues!
The Organizing Committee welcomes you, and we hope to see you soon.
