Welcome!
I am a visiting researcher at the Global Development Institute for Public Affairs. I received a PhD in Public Policy from Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University. During my PhD, I was also a visiting student at School for Policy Studies at the University of Bristol.
My research agenda broadly encompasses policy analysis, policy evaluation, and policy implementation, with a particular focus on how policies can be effectively implemented to achieve their intended goals. To address these research questions, my dissertation explores the relationship between the policy implementation gap and policy change, focusing on the Innovative City Project in South Korea. Through this research, I identified the implementation gap and policy change, and suggested key factors that influence the challenges of adapting policies in response to the implementation gap.
Beyond South Korea, I aim to apply my research areas to studies across Asia and beyond. As a result, I have published research on China, Vietnam, ASEAN, Africa, the United Kingdom, and other regions worldwide.
During my graduate studies, I served as the Executive Secretary of the Korean Association for Policy Analysis and Evaluation and worked as a Researcher at the Asia Regional Information Center. I have also gained experience from various projects funded by organizations such as Bank of Korea, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, and Korea Environment Institute. Additionally, I participated as an author on a research project conducted by Safer Internet Lab in Indonesia.
