I have been running Bitdefender 2018 Total Security (and earlier versions) with Malwarebytes Premium 3 (and previous versions) for years now, without issues. I have added the recommended Malwarebytes executable files to the Bitdefender exclusion list.

I concur with @daman1. The interface between the chair and the keyboard is the greatest vulnerability, but security is all about "layers". I am very confident that BDTS and MBP will keep me protected from all but the most stupid of mistakes. That is why I run them both. They are both very good at what they do. There is some overlap, but for now, they each have individual capabilities that the other lacks.

I ran MB Premium with Kaspersky for years without trouble but when I switched to Bitdefender Total Security I had interaction problems. I was told by the Bitdefender support person that BD is not compatible with MB. To manage the interaction I was told to to switch off MB real time protection

Also wondering if anyone else here using Bitdefender is currently experiencing issues with safety removing external usb hard drives (forum link: -bug-external-hard-drives-wont-eject-with-bitdefender/ ).

I haven't heard about the safely remove hardware issue for external drives, however that's not too surprising since it apparently isn't related to Malwarebytes (though just FYI Malwarebytes had a similar issue a while back with its Ransomware Protection component causing a similar problem, however that has long since been resolved several versions/releases ago).

If you do run into any trouble please let us know and we will do our best to assist you in addressing it, but I don't expect you'll have any problems. That said, if you wish to configure mutual exclusions between the two programs, it certainly couldn't hurt, especially since even if there are no conflicts, it could still improve overall system performance to some degree (though of course it isn't guaranteed to, but it couldn't hurt to try). To do so, exclude Bitdefender's program folder(s) along with any of its services/processes the run in the background if stored elsewhere (like within the Windows folder or any other common location where files not just specific to Bitdefender are stored if there are any) via the process described under the Exclude a File or Folder section found in this support article and the items listed in this support article should be excluded from Bitdefender's real-time protection.

Thanks. I've installed Malwarebytes & both it & Bitdefender working together fine (so far). Just added Malwarebytes program files to Bitdefender safe files & all good. I didn't do anything in Malwarebytes, just ran a default scan & it came up clean:-) Bitdefender hasn't had any issues with Malwarebytes either (yet). Hopefully Bitdefender will fix the external drive issue soon as it is quite annoying. Wait & see I guess. Cheers.

Yes, you can use Malwarebytes by itself if you wish, or if you still want a traditional antivirus along with it you can enable Windows Defender (or if you are using Windows 7, you can install Microsoft Security Essentials).

Hi folks, I know in the past there has been a controversy over using Malwarebytes with bitdefender, some say it's fine, others say not recommended. I have used the two together for about two years, since I ditched Kaspersky. A few weeks ago, on a pretty fast 2 year old computer with a SSD drive, I ran into my first problem. I was attempting to install the latest Windows 11 software and did so. For some reason, I never figured out, the computer crashed. I could not get the computer recovery to work,so I ended up having to reinstall Windows. I did so, and two days later my computer crashed again, so had to reinstall Windows again after completely wiping all data off of my drive (still reinstalling data with carbonite, over 550 G).

(1) Are Malwarebytes and Bitdefender a good fit together, or should I Use only one or the other. Even if I don't notice the computer slowing down or having an issue, are the abilities of the two antiviruses compromised because of the way the antivirus programs compete with each other.

After reinstalling windows I did run diagnostics and everything seems good. I don't want to give up on either Bitdefender or Malwarebytes, but I will give up on one of them if I am better off than with both of them.

I have been running Bitdefender Total Security and MB Premium for many years. No issues, as long as you configure the appropriate exclusions in each program so that they play nicely in the same sandbox. In my humble opinion, running the two together enhances my computer security. You have to install Bitdefender products first. Bitdefender is highly territorial and will not install if it finds any other security solutions on your computer, other than Windows Defender. MB Premium is happy to get installed if BD is present. Make sure that you turn off, in the MB Settings, "Always register with the Windows Security Centre."

So, I have been using Eest Smart Security for years now. I wanted the extra protection and found out Malwarbytes premium played real well with Eset. Well, I started hearing about Bitdefender and how great it was. It's hard for me to make the change, since I have grown to really trust eset, but I decided to give it a shot. The one major thing about it though was there is a lot of talk about how bitdefender doesn't play well with others. I never heard that about Eset. Bitdefender seems to keep beating out the competition, so I would like to give it a try, but if it doesn't play well with Malwarebytes, I may go back to Eset. So far, I was able to install Bitdefender with Malwarebytes premium already installed. It did complain about it though. Anyone have experience with Bitdefender while running Malwarebytes premium?

While I've not personally tested Bitdefender alongside Malwarebytes, I do have experience using ESET and know that they do work well together. That said, I do know that we've got several users around the forums who use Bitdefender with Malwarebytes and if I recall correctly the only recent issue I heard of had to do with the web blocking component in Bitdefender sometimes needing to be disabled for the web protection in Malwarebytes to function, however it's been a while since I heard anyone mention it so it is possible that this has since been corrected.

Good day yesterday after many moths decided to use the update which sat dormant on KIS 2019 to latest version 20.0.14.1085(g) but did not uninstall Malwarebytes as suggested and when my pc restarted I could not go online with any of my installed browsers and not thinking it was a compatibility problem spent a long time trying to fix it by uninstalling both Malwarebytes and KIS.

I now only have KIS 2020 installed but feel naked without the added protection from Malwarebyte and after reading this thread going to try and install Malearebytes and leave real time protection un ticked and hope I do not have the same problems as before failing that i will have to look online for the KIS 2019 and install that because it worked with no problems side by side with Malwarbytes.

Luminous, I agree with you 100%, they are two different applications for different needs, regardless of what Kaspersky wishes we to believe, MalwareBytes has protected me for years, as well as Kaspersky, just in different ways.

Not to mention there has been several times, just this year, that Malwarebytes has block malicious access that Kaspersky didn't even notice. Only twice has Kaspersky stopped maliciousness that Malwarebytes didn't flag, in the entirety that I've had Kaspersky. I'll stick with running two services and my real experiences.

I am wondering if these two programs can coexist together. I have Malwarebytes Lifetime which I purchased before I purchased Kaspersky Total Security.

When I went I update my Kaspersky to the newest version it uninstalled my Malwarebytes with the message saying that it was incompatible software.

The version of Kaspersky I am using is: Kaspersky Total Security (build 20.0.14.1085c)

Providing you have a moderate technical capability and have patience and are willing to keep an open mind; and apply some mutual trust exclusions, it should be possible to get a working, smoother installation of Malwarebytes Premium 4 and the KTS with patch G or higher. be457b7860
