Dr Catrin Gibson

DPhil in Philosophy, University of Oxford

I've recently graduated with a DPhil in Philosophy from the University of Oxford. My research interests include:

  • existentialism

  • phenomenology

  • philosophy of psychology & cognitive science

  • feminism

  • political philosophy

  • practical ethics (inc. AI ethics and digital ethics)

My doctorate, supervised by Professor Joseph Schear and Professor Christina Howells, explores the question of whether authentic love is possible within Jean-Paul Sartre's philosophy, informed by the writings of twentieth-century French feminists.

Prior to my doctorate, I read for the BPhil in Philosophy and a BA in PPE, both at the University of Oxford. I have held various positions on the executive committee of Exeter College's Middle Common Room, including that of president.
