Leaders Meeting

Present:  Jan, Sandra, Gail, Charlee and Kathy

1.       CaTNA National Coordinator

Gail has agreed to take over as National Coordinator from Jan.   It was agreed that this position should be shared and Faye Meyer was nominated to work with Gail.   Gail will contact Faye to discuss this.   This change is effective immediately and Jan will be available to to assist during the transition period.

2.      Brochures

The new brochures need to have the CaTNA mailing address updated to remove the Calgary address and replaced it with:

Email address will remain the same but now will go to Gail (and/or Faye).  The main CaTNA emails will be canadaTN@catna2.ca or catna2017@gmail.com.

3.      Canada Group

This virtual group needs a leader – someone to hold virtual meetings and be contact person.  Also keep in touch with the group via email.  Effective immediately that will be Gail.

4.      Zoom

Jan will renew subscription for another year and then contact info to Gail’s name. The next scheduled open zoom meeting is Feb 24th.  Jan will host that one.   The host for future meetings has not been determined.

5.      Bank

We have $3,547.39 in the bank.  Zoom subscription will be $214 plus tax.   Jan will contact Bank to see best way to transfer account to Gail.

6.      Website

Jan will update the website to indicate change in leadership.  If anyone sees a place where Jan’s name still appears – please let me know.  I am likely to miss a few spots when making the updates.   You will have to use my personal email:  mailforjan@gmail.com.

1.      Updates  - most groups are resuming in person meetings this year.   We will still have at least one general zoom monthly.

2.      Brochure review –  everyone agreed to review the sample brochure sent by email and to share suggestions and modifications made by each group at the next leaders meeting  

3.      Finances for 2023

a.      Total Income:               $1,180.00

b.      Expenses:                     $2,97.00

c.       Dec 31 bank balance:     $3,551.39

d.      Note:  Balance in pins account is $-423.18    (This does not account for whatever profits are made in each individual group)

4.      Welcome to New people on mailing list.   Each group can modify its own “Welcome Message” to new people on their mailing list.  Contact Jan for a copy of what is used for your group.

You are also welcome to attend the open CaTNA Zoom support group meetings.  You will automatically receive information and an invitation a few days prior to each meeting. These meetings are held monthly except for December, July and August.

You can help support CaTNA by becoming a member.   Membership in CaTNA is $10 per year or $20 for 3 years.  This money is used to maintain the national organization including the website, assisting with new group development and general administration like communications.

Leaders Meeting Nov 22,2023

Present:  Faye, Gail, Jan, Charlee and Kathy

Unable to attend:  Brenda, Marj,  Pam, Sandra

1.  Group updates- discussion about the challenges of getting help for members in serious trouble.  Charlee gave example of a woman unable to eat or drink.  Charlee went with her to ER - explained the issue to the Doctor who told her in reponse to her suggestion of using Dilantin that they "didn't do that for TN".   Sent the woman home with the caution her electrolytes were out of balance so she should try and drink/eat more.

2. CaTNA finances:  Year to date income:  $1,810:  expenses $2,54.50   Current bank balance: $3,675.43

3. TN Awareness Campaign.  Kathy is finding this to be a very big job and too much for her and Brenda to do alone.  In addition to Canada, Kathy has taken on coordinating other countries too.  

4. In 2024 we agreed Leaders meetings will continue every 6 weeks - Wednesday morning at 11 am Calgary time.   The next one will be Jan 10, 2024

5. Zoom meetings will continue for everyone the 4th Saturday of the month.   Calgary zoom meetings are open to everyone although the time is a little late for Ontario as they start at 7 pm MST.  If Kathy hosts a zoom for Ontario it will be open to everyone too.   

6. White Rock, Saskatoon and Regina are only having in-person meetings.

Leaders Meeting 

April 26, 2023 - 11 am Calgary time

Membership Campaign.   This has been successful so far with 30 new and renewed memberships to this point.  Compared to 16 in all of 2022.   It seems that in person meetings are good for memberships too.

Finances:

Jan- Apr 2023 2022

Income $  1,310 $450

Expenses $ 1,882.70 $228.21

The major expense so far this year are the pins and zoom subscription.   We are still in the 2nd year of a 3 year deal for the web hosting.

Zoom Subscription.   We were able to take advantage of a special offer so the annual cost this year is $147.  While all group leaders are welcome to use the zoom for meetings, signing on from another computer - not mine - seems to cause a problem.  The easiest solution is for me to start the meeting and then turn it over to you right away so you become the "host" and can manage the meeting from then.  I would suggest we meet on-line 1/2 hour before the meeting to do this.

Hybrid/combo meetings.  Gail reports that she had good success with a hybrid or combo meeting where she set up a computer with a zoom link for people joining that way plus there were folks in person in the room.   Everyone from both groups was able to participate.

Next meeting:   Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at same time.  11 am Calgary time.

New Logo:  CaTNA surrounded by Oval ring.   this is TEAL in color and is what we will start using immediately

Business Card sized to be attached to pins.  Wording also in TEAL.   These will be “generic” and individual groups can add their own information to the back of each card.
